Rebuilding my throttle body, and I didn't mark the plate before taking apart...
That being said, I have tried all 4 possible directions for the plate to face, and it's catching the bore just shy of closing completely in all 4 orientations.
I did actually have another 2g tbody lying around, and I referenced the direction it's plate was, it had a mark on it's plate same as the one I'm rebuilding, so I went off of that, but it's still catching.
Also, screw heads should be on the side facing the elbow correct?
I'm really not sure what the issue is here, things just don't want to line up.

I just ran into your problem while rebuilding a throttle body. When reinstalling the plate move the throttle shaft in and out as you slide it in. It's a tight fit. Make sure the shaft is also in the correct orientation also. Like if it won't go in spin it 180 degrees

Make sure the throttle shaft isn't bent or tweaked. It can easily happen on disassembly if you're not careful.

Mine is set up just like yours, I think the one in that video is different though. I guess I can try screw heads towards manifold...idk, this is pissing me off, finally have this thing back together and can't drive it because of this BS... And I'm sick of driving 3 hours each way to work on it...

After a few more attempts screwing with it I finally got it to cooperate. Hopefully this can help someone else-the thing that finally got it in place was putting it in the way it was originally(2 little lines go above the screws, screw heads towards elbow),however I had to back off the
throttle stop screw in order to set the plate further back into the bore, in other words the plate needs to be able to smoothly go slightly past what the throttle stop set screw will let it, in order to be set to not snag with the set screw in place. Make sure to mark the set screw and put it back in at the same spot or you can affect your idle speed. I think this was the main issue causing interference, I also held and let close the plate quickly, but you have to hold it sideways for that to work.

Lesson learned to always mark UP, DOWN, INSIDE and OUTSIDE and make a mark from your plates to the bore to help you line it all up. Even then, you should leave the screws a bit loose to let them self align then tighten them after you are sure they are seating all the way. 40 years of carb rebuilds taught me all of that though. I also put a dab of locktite on my screws so the motor doesn't accidentally eat them if they loosen up.
