That is from Mike1992 dude. By the way this is with a BOLT ON HX35 NOT a hx40 in 12cm housing which of course is bigger and flows more...dude

Yea, what kind of fuel was that on? VP Q16?

And to your previous "rebuttle" there is NO bolt on mitsu housing that flows as much as an .82 A/R garret T3 housing, so no, a bolt on HX40, will NOT "own" a GT3582R HTA. :p

I mean thats whats expected from that turbo and mod list, What would a gt35r run on this setup, 15.0 or something?

You guys must have missed this too. Nothing to big just a 653whp hx40 dyno with a bolt on housing which again is SMALLER than what i'm suggesting ; )

I have Morphius' permission to post up some impressive results from a user who doesn't have the status to access this forum yet. Badman21. 653whp. 40psi with the HX40 with small BEP housing

What happened power wise between the 1/8th and the 1/4? A 103 trap in the 1/8th should be in the 130+ range at the end of the 1/4 mile. Someone's having some flow issues :p

Btw... I ET'd a 7.4 in the 1/8th on a 16g.....

I doubt you ran 11.2 in your 16g though. I also doubt that you have made 650whp with your big old GT35rhta either ;)

OOOOO and I don't like to bring this up cause it's not performance relevant but it is when chosing a turbo. Brand new GT35RHTA $1,699 plus tax and shipping OUCH. Brand new hx40 PRO with 16 cm housing(I will show you the ebay auction I won when I bought mine if you doubt this too) $540....SHIPPED!!:rocks:

HX40:beatentodeath:GT35RHTA

wow 40psi! First off the person wanted to know about the bg s256. And then the holset police came in because he was talking about another turbo. Bottom line is the holset is capable of his goals, but realize its not the only turbo that can do it just as good

ive seen big16g cars run 11s and bigger turbo cars run the exact same thing but at a much higher mph which means it makes more hp, but the same 1/4 time is the same 1/4time

And guess what, you're running a used tractor turbo, I'm running a brand new GARRETT :p [/snob]

(that carries a lifetime warranty from FP against CHRA oil contamination too)

I"m running a BRand new not used or remaned HX52 which is holset's gt42r sized turbo which came off a volvo not a tractor. You want to hear a little secret you smart garret guys might not know, I have the SAME exact wheels as the HTAT4Z. I mean exact meaing it's billet with the same specs. My guess someone's getting their wheels from used tractors . Only difference is mine didn't require me to sell my house and can be rebuilt for less than a months rent. I am not the holset police just the voice of reason. I'll let Matt come in here if he wants and do the PWNing I'm just showing the OP that a hx40 with 12cm housing would be perfect for him not that others wouldn't too but at the price and performance it is dam hard to beat. Just to put things into prospective my hx52 will walk a gt35RHTA any day of the weak along with my JHR manifold which is one of the best manifolds out cost me a combined $1000 shipped. That's my .02

I suppose your hx-52 will probably spool 1000rpms faster than the hta35r, too

So what are your goals with the hx52? It is capable of 90lb but the guy in the thread was running salt flats. Are you going to be doing that, strip/ street/strip?

Looks like a very nice setup! I hope you meet your goals! you have Nate tuning it, sweet!!

Have you previously used the dks cams in your car. I was curious of the power comparo of these verse stock or an actual 272 or 280?

I've actually considered an hx40 just bc of all the hype followed by it. I was talking about the BW s2 or s3 (s360) or something turbos bc from what i've heard (no actual seat time or visual conformation) they have very quick spool times and are extremely pump gas friendly due to the extended tip option. The 40r i have that i ran, and indended to run, just isnt for me on a 2.0, the lag is just too much (and to think i wanted to run a 42 at one point) but as i said, this is a street car, actually its my DD, so power+pump gas+boost around the same rpm im making now (which is around 4200-4500 is pretty key. Thanks for all the responses and what not too, i enjoy peoples opinions, which is why i initially posted in the first place :)

I think the biggest advantage with the Holset turbo is that the price of them in considerablly low right now. Compared to your garret turbo, etc. Also they are easy to find a abundint right now. But not for long, it sounds like the bullseye housing is sold out for them to mate to a mistubishi manifold. But for the price of a 1600$ garret turbo, you can have a holset, and a manifold, and some other things. That is the point. Also they are much more availaible to have rebuilt, most desiel shops can take care of you if something were to happen, Which means less down time. I know i talked to a desiel repair shop here in Iowa, and he has rebuild kits in stock for 90% of the holset turbos and its like 150 to have them rebuilt, and it would take acouple days. Which you wont get with you Garrett series turbo. But both turbos will work its all a personal perference of brand and company, some people like other things.

No offense to any turbo mentioned. It seams that guys love their turbochoices like they chose it as an expression of their inner self or something. EVERY single person posting on this forum that has gone to the track with a holset has put up an 11second slip. that's about 5 people. Big names run turbos the get for free (sponsorship). IF a big name ran a holset how much better would the results be? How many would run the holset. The pack mentality? or the herd mentality?

The "pwning" is this log of the hx40 in the bep housing spooling to 20+ psi by 3900rpms. And then scrolling to the 650whp dynograph displayed already in this thread. This was NOT with the billet hx40 compressor wheel. What did Curt Brown put down with his hta 35r setup? Give him the benefit of a conservative dyno, of course.

I just talked to Nate Sylveri (i never remember how to spell his last name), he's one of my good friends and conversation at the bar developed into either running the BW s362 or the hx40 for the goals i previously mentioned. The 40 just has too much lag for my car still being my DD and a 2.0. So i'm split between the 2 but the 40 in combination with the .70ar t3 housing seems to be calling my name :D
