i just installed a new 160' thermostat because i have overheating problem. after i installed and put everything back together. check engine light was on.. im pretty sure i didnt touch anything other than took of my 2g maf sensor out(the whole thing from the turbo).. My quetion is.. is there a particular way to install thermostat?? because i just sit the thermostat at the housing put the gasket and closed it back together..

The only particular way to install the thermostat is to make sure the part with the spring goes toward the engine. The seal goes around the lip on the body of the thermostat, and you might want to put some rtv sealer on the thermostat housing where it goes back together. Check your connection to the maf and make sure its good, and clear the CEL and see if it comes back. Did you put all the vaccume lines back that go to the intake tube?

Heh, good call. I don't know how many times I've done some work where I thought power from the battery wouldn't be an issue and got the crap scared outta me LOL.

i did all that but... couldnt find anything wrong.. i put rebuilt ecu in the car due to i sent my ecu to ecmlink.. could that be the problem?? because a rebuilt ecu i got from the junk yard??

no not yet... waiting for my dsmlink to come.. i know it wont do crap.. i just changed it while i opened it... to help in the long run... im thinkin maybe the water pump...:barf: i hate overheating.. i have some question about the overheating i had.. car runs good compression 120 all across. car overheats slow.. maybe after 20 min.. the stock gauge stays in the middle and the water temp gauge said it was 230:ohdamn: some people said that the stock temp gauge have high reading.. idk which one is true...
