hey guys, every now and then i'll be driving normally for about maybe 10 minutes and i turn the heat on..only to feel a cool breeze come out instead warm air..the stock temp gauge starts climbing and still no warm air.only after i drive it hard for a while does it start to warm up(freeway driving) .i was wondering if anyone else has had this problem cause it's creeping me out.

are you losing fluid? maybe your pump or thermostat arent good or the stat might not be opening enough. Try bleeding your system for fun one day when you have time doesnt hurt.

Water pump.

If the water pump isnt circulating fluid, the engine temp will increase because the coolant isnt reaching the radiator fast enough, and itll never reach the interior at all.

Well if your are not heating up fast it does seem like a thermostat. I have had that problem and i actually was the wire that connects to the flapper underneth the dash that lets the air flow over the heater core. It is easy to check. Take off the pass. kick panel, i guess you call it, to the left of the glove box. then youll have to look pretty far under there and have someone else to help you. I had my cousin turn the knob that controls the heat and i was under there looking at which one was turning and it so happens that it was broken. so i pulled it off and turned it all the way to heat for the winter. You'll understand this better when you get underthere if it does not end up being a thermostat or low coolant.

wait for your car to get fully warm, and check the top and bottom hose.. There should be lil difference in temp, but both hot.. If one is hot, and the other isnt, then your thermostat is stuck.. It really just sounds like its not getting heat to the heater core, and with the engine temp rising, you are probably low on coolant..

flushed the radiator about 3-4 months ago...added coolant after i noticed these symptons a week or two ago..same stuff. temp would read pretty high after driving then after turning on the heat the needle begins to drop but no heat?!
