Anything you recommend newbies "people who have not been to the shootout before" to bring to the shootout, that one would not think about bringing?

Well from the things I've seen, an extra kidney would be good! Drinking is a favorite past time of most there! Other than that, sun screen.

Ha, too funny, and very true! I really hope I can make it next year. But with a new baby on the way and a new house Im not sure Ill be able to. We'll see!

11.50 INDEX CLASS TO BE ADDED FOR THE 2015 EVENT!

The decision has been made on adding a new Index Class.

The most common complaint from people racing now is that the cars have gotten to fast, so a mild build can't compete in any of the classes. This is understandable and the nature of the how the event has progressed over the years. There are guys who want to run FWD's, there are guys who want to run any mods they want etc. Doing a 10.90 class I feel is too fast for a lot of guys trying to compete with a stock turbo build. It is also not easy to accomplish with a FWD. There has to be a point that a DSM/EVO/FWD/RWD/GTR can reach fairly easily without breaking the bank. There has to be a point that a car that is capable of running 10.5's but can't win a normal heads up class can slow down to with a turn of the boost controller to run heads up and still be fun. That point to me after careful thought is 11.50's.

Some guys may have to step up their game slightly and others will need to slow down a bit but that's the point of an Index class.

For those of you that don't know how this is going to work. This extra class you will be trying to run as closely to 11.50 every single pass as possible. The class is run on a Pro Tree and will be open to ANY Shootout legal vehicle. So DSM's/EVO's/GTR's or any other Mitsubishi powered vehicle. Mods don't matter, you can run the car in ANY configuration you want.

Spread the word.

What about the inerior requirement in street eliminator? Is it like in the past where if you have a rollbar that interferes with rear seats it's ok?

The rules state full interior. Matt's EVO has a 12 point, full NHRA legal and approved cage in the car. He cut the back seats to fit them back in the car so it looks nice. I'm going to require these same things for STREET classes now. If you built a race car then you can run in Street 32, which is the reason that class has been added. To help separate legit street cars from race cars running in the street classes, more or less anyway.

That's kinda ignorant on your part. I'm sure I'm not the only one who bought QTP's instead of regular slicks so I could be legal is DSE. Put the car together to fall under the rules of DSE, and then like a month before the event you change all the rules? Then you change them again, now I have to run a faster class. It's certainly asinine of you to think that these rules will actually seperate a street car from a race car.

WOO for 20lbs of useless rear seats taking priority over saftey equipment!

Look, it's simple. This is Dave's sandbox and if you don't like it, don't play in it. I learned that long ago. Dave's rules are much different than any other sanctioned racing series so you have to compromise if you want to meet Dave's rules. My car should absolutely be running in Street 32 but because I have a Racepak IQ3 dash with my Haltech PS1000 ECU, I am not allowed to run in a street class, according to Dave, even though my car met the other rules 100%. Also, the street classes at MIR here in Maryland allow for full slicks and exhausts exiting anywhere so I ditched my M&H bias-ply DOTs and full exhaust and went to a full 26" M&H slick and hood-exit because the Shootout was the only event that required those rules. I will now have to run the Quick class with only a 35R against the likes of 76+mm turbos, 2200lb tin cans, and RWDs. That's fine. My mid-9s will get stomped if everyone stays together but I've learned to live with that because I didn't build my car to run one very-abnormal Mitsubishi event a year. I still go out and try to have a good time racing against similar cars with people that have similar interests.

Last year was my first time I made it out to the shootout and I was very glad I did. It's an amazing time on a very well maintained track and I cannot wait for next year's shootout!

Definitely bring sunscreen as you're outside all day.

I understand all that, but it's a major pisser when you make comprimises to run a class that dissapears right before the event.

I could have bought cheaper m&H 24.5's and probably gone faster and broke less. I didn't need to make a full exhuast, I didn't need to keep half my interior that I worked to keep when I put my roll bar in.

I think it's dumb for you not to be allowed in street for your racepak. So that means when I replace my cluster with autometer nexus gauges I won't be?

Let's talk ignorance........DSE allowed QTP's, then the class name in DSE and EE was changed to just Street Eliminator. Those classes all allowed QTP's but NEVER allowed slicks. The rules were NOT changed before the event, they were left the same. The only change last year was the ADDITION of STREET 32, it had NO effect on those classes. So, shut the f*** up on those as you are the one who is ignorant. The rules have not changed AGAIN as you say, this would be the first change that effects you OR you can find some old rear seats and put them in the car, that should cost you all of $25 for some seat you stuff in there for the class. Asinine is you typing the wrong information and thinking changing your entire set up to run in another class is harder than finding some old stock seats to put back in your gutted "street" car.[DOUBLEPOST=1413915336][/DOUBLEPOST]Yep, it's my sand box. I have to please about 5700 people the weekend of the Shootout. I guess I should change the rules for the 4 people who can't seem to fit in like everyone else does............I have a better idea, don't like it, don't attend, it's quite simple. Seems the majority have no issues as the event keeps growing.

You combined DSE and EE, that's a pretty big change. My car was legal for DSE, which was no slicks and full exhuast and full interior other than what interfered with a roll bar.

Now I have to run Street 32, with half interior cars, full slicks, forward facing turbo, no exhaust, ect.

I love how my 3200lb car with a/c, cruise, and a full interior is gutted because I removed the rear seats, carpeted the floor and put a divider wall in place of the seats.

None if it really matters but its bullshit that I have take apart a bunch of stuff just to put some stock seats in all because I wanted a roll bar. It's not like the bar adds more weight than the seats took out anyway.

While I understand what you're saying, you have to realize that regardless of the rules for either SE or S32, you have to run 9s to be at the top of the ladder. Your biggest issue is that you want to try and be competitive with a 3200lb car with all the amenities. That just doesn't work. Period. Anyone that wants to have a fully functioning "street car" with all the option while trying to be competitive with cars that just barely meet the class rules is a fool. You may not like that and it may not seem fair but the rules are the rules and as long as you meet them, no matter how closely, you're legal. That doesn't just count at the Shootout, that counts anywhere, at ANY racing event. You have to accept that you'd rather have a street car than a truly competitive drag car. My car went 9.9@136 in full DSE legal spec. Wipers, DOT tires, full exhaust, rear seats, mild 6-pt cage, 2950lb. I was competitive in DSE, one single event of the year, but got my ass handed to me in True Street at MIR and OGS events against Civics going 9.0s because I didn't take every advantage I had in the MIR and OGS rules. That's when I decided to forget the Shootout rules and concentrate on the rules for events I could run 10-12 times a season.

Thanks david buschur 11.50 Index class my car might have a chance. I was going to go for stock appearing turbo but this class seems cool I am sure auto's may dominate for once.

I combined the two classes, that is not a rule change, it is simply making one class. The rules didn't change for the classes, they were combined. The reality is now that I think about it, if a guy goes the extra mile for the cage/roll bar I don't care if the seats are left out if they can NOT be put back in. So I'll make a change to the rule.

Oh I know that being competitive in either class is more about making your race car look like it's a street car, than having a legit street car that gets miles on it. I think it's rediculous that it's my rear seats that determin legality, when the damn QM and welded CD have a much larger negative impact on the street ability.

If I had more than 2 IFO races within driving distance, I'd make it go faster. But I don't and I enjoy having a mid 10's street car that gets 10000mi/yr on it and gets me to school, ect. If that means i'm going to suck hind tit at the shootout, that's fine. It's just not right that I suck the hindest tit over something as dumb as the rear seats. Especially when it has a full interior, and I closed off and carpeted the rear. .[DOUBLEPOST=1413920585][/DOUBLEPOST]
