That sounds like a great deal. Just because the head is rebuilt doesn't mean it will break down. That makes no sense. Even if the motor was dead I would still buy it and put a built motor in it.

That would be something I would personally jump on. If you do decide to get it, do a compression and leak down test and go from there.

Edit: One thing to note is that it is an automatic transmisson. If you don't mind that then, call the guy and try to get more information. Ask how it was maintained and for a list of any current problems. If that car isn't what you want, search the classifieds.
 
I saw that recently too, I would jump on it as well if I was looking for one. The only downside is that it's auto...

I've never heard of a rebuilt head being a bad thing :confused:
 
it'd be for a winter car, so I was kind of looking for an automatic either way. so not much money would be going into it after I bought it.
 
when i saw that picture, i was like WTF ''MY CAR.'' but its not, it looks excatly the same.

that car looks good. why would your friend told you that it would break down just because of the rebuilt head? Thats the first time i ever heard of that.

Yup, the flip up assembly along with the marker light deal that goes in front of it.

Edit: What I'm wondering is if they carried the 1ga body style into 92...?
 
That isn't a '92, anyway. Popup headlights are 90-91 only. Still a pretty good deal. :)
 
Well, there are a few people who've expressed interest in doing a 1Ga conversion to a 1Gb... no word on if any of them were successful. It could be just a very late manufacturing run. But I've never seen an actual 1992 build-date with OEM popups. Might be why the driver's side headlight is missing, if it actually is.. someone trying to back-convert, and losing interest in the project.

I'd be a little cautious about the pacesetter manifold, they're known to crack and cause severe exhaust leaks, if not underhood damage from exhaust gas heat. First thing I'd swap out if I bought that thing, for a 2G mani or one of the Slowboy modified manifolds. Hell, I'd probably do it even before getting rid of the POS 13g turbo.
 
I am sure they are negotiable -- you can get a 2g for that price, with a matching hood -- although not awd.

all accessories are in there and work

Basically stock minus a K/N and a 3" back after the stock downpipe

only problem is it is missing the driver's side skirt..
 
Im new to turbo cars and the sounds they make. I went to check out a 95 tsi awd. It was an automatic. When I hit the gas i hear strange sound. Its tough to describe it but i would say it kind of had a click to it . Once i got to about 25-30 mph it went away. The lady told me the dealer said it had something to do with the overdrive not being on. Supposedly when you put it in overdrive it doesnt do it.

I don't know what that sound is so if any body could help me out with this it would be greatly appreciated.

Should I pass on this? The car has 77k miles and is $4800, everything else seems solid.

Sounds decent... too bad you couldnt get it cheap before the turbo was rebuilt... that ###### upped the price :-:)dsm:
 
yeah i won a auction for a spyder off ebay and i was going to pick the car up in person but the title has a lean on it so the seller has to pay the lean off with some of the money i give him and he said it would take 3 days for them to mail the title me from the militry bank so my ? is is it safe to buy this car w/o the title and trust them sending it? or is there some kinda paper work i should get to show i bought the car and it was not stolen? I have never bought a car b4 with a title and this is all new to me.
 
He can call the bank and tell them to send the title to the local branch, where you can pay off the loan, and they can sign the title over to you.

No way would I ever trust anyone to do anything concerning a title. They could pay off the car with your money and get the title, and sell it to someone else, and then you are left trying to chase them down and sue them to get your money back.

Sorry, I have been screwed over too many times.
 
I personally would never hand anyone money for a car without the title in hand, but that is just me.

if a bank or whatnot owns his car (IE he is making payments to them) you can buy the car off the bank.

IMO its pretty easy. I have bought and sold many cars that have still been financing on. He as a seller must get you the following

Account #
10 Day Payoff Amount with per-deim rate
Proof of smog (cali thing)
Registration / current tags whatever

you then go to your institution and tell them you need to get a loan for whatever amount to buy the car from the seller from his institution. If he owes less than the purchase amount, your bank pays off his loan and gives him a check for the remainder.

your bank will likely not give you money without either the current owner being present or without the pink slip, they will however take care of all the transfer paperwork if your bank is purchasing it off his bank, and all that happens is the loan officer tells the current owner the car is no longer in his name and has been payed off by the bank, and hand over the keys.

I was unable to get the money for it any way my bank would not give me a loan on it only way i could do it if i could somehow pay off his loan on it by monthly payments till i sell my gs-t then i could pay it off or when every i get my 15k inheritance that i been patiently waiting for the past 8 months. I was told it would be 2 more weeks and i should have it :)

any way i will let u guys tell me if this car is worth the price. To me it seems like a great deal heres what it has

Garrett Big T28 TURBO controlled at 18psi. Capable of over 25psi and can be very happy at 21psi, hacked K&N, into Stage 2 intercooler piping and releasing on a RS type BOV set to atmosphere, Exgaust is a Evo 3 manifold, a APEXI down pipe into APEXI Dunk exhaust. full 3in all the way out. Walbro 255 fuel pump into a high flow billet fuel rail, with PTE 780cc injectors.

Blasted, washed, cryo tested, head, that was ported and polished, with bronze valve guides, 1mm oversized valve stems, hash adjusters, and some Crower titanium valve springs and retainers, with VERY RARE LS1 Cams that are custom made at .377 lift and duration is 187 at .050 top it off. also has polished adjustable timing gears. 40 over teflon coated weisco pistons, that match into free float eagle rods which ride on Clevlite bearings and a 10/10 nascar crank. Had the balanced shafts removed professionally, BUT dont worry about the shakes I had the whole motor including the light weight flywheel shipped off to be balanced to 10,000 RPMS!!!!. built with 2 rev limiters!!!



TEIN S springs and struts, a carbon fiber Strut Bar, and Carbon Fiber Tie bar, to keep it in the corners, Think you ran it a little to fast, well I put STOP TECH Drilled and slotted rotors, brakes are matched to GSX Rims with some B/A COOPER ZEON tires.

There is a 1 year warranty on the motor by the mechanic that built it, but it is up in 12 days, I have put 600 miles on this thing in 12 Months!!!



FOR THE REST a 1st gen cam sensor conversion so you can control the timing on this car. This car also has many appearance upgrades as listed . This car has been adult owned and driven, it is set at 18psi of boost (capable of well over 20psi). I have seen setups very very similar to this one that run 500HP, So if you're looking for a car capable of some ridiculous HP and is a real head turner this is the car for you. Overall condition of the car is very good no rips or tears in the interior some minor signs of wear in the drivers seat. Exterior is in good shape with the usual signs of age for a car of 11 years old, from the photo you can see it is not painted I do have the paint for the car that was matched with a gun the shoots into the paint by a proffessional body shop, then had it mixed by DU-pont Chromobase, its a dead match This car has not been in any accidents and has a CLEAN CARFAX I do have a copy of it. Motor has been rebuilt and has under 700mi.

Car is wired to DSMLINK so engine controls are at your fingertips, MAKE SURE you have a laptop for your tuning. there are many many expensive extra parts that go with this car to include another ported head, stock cams and gears, HUD, SAFC and logger, stock ECU., stock intercooler piping, 1gen BOV, stock radiator, AWD parts, JUST TONS OF VERY NICE THINGS FOR RESELL. worth well over 3000 dollars, I do have most reciepts for all this stuff.

Okay, so..I've been looking for a TSi AWD for my winter car, and I've never messed with DSM's before and can honestly say I know nothing about them. I found an AWD talon I can afford, but there are problems with it. Look at the link and please tell me what you think may be the probem, and what the solution is. To me it sounds like an ECU problem..but that's about the only thing I can think of.
