It sounds to be a great deal. I'd look into it some more and if everything looks to be good then get it.
Check for rust, start the car and let it warm up and see if the smoke coming out has any color, check the vin for a clean title, and here's some advice quoted from staticbrainwash that he gave me "If he lets you, take it to a good mechanic for an inspection. Do a compression test, look at the suspension, drivetrain, Check out the turbo, check timing. Maybe a leakdown test too. You will have the car gone for a few hours while this is going on which is why i say "if he lets you". You might spend 100 bucks in the process, but you'll find out A LOT that way. I'd also ask for receipts if he has them for anything he did to it."

I still have the option to trade a wrecked 94 5.0 5sp mustang for a POS'ish 95 talon AWD... The rundown of said POS is about midway through the first page on this thread: http://www.dsmtuners.net/forums/showthread.php?t=271587

I already picked up a 1G so I don't need this car persay, but at the same time even if I part it, it has desirable stuff for my 1G (TB elbow, MAF stuff, rims and tires etc). I was going to sell the mustang to help recoup the cost of the 1G. I would list it at $800 and try to get 700-800 out of it. Do you guys think the 2G is worth at least the same?

If the body on the 2G is straight and you're a decent mechanic then hell yes it's worth it. A clean 2G AWD shell is easily worth $1500. If you fix it and get it running good with even a 14b I think you'll be very happy with it as a daily driver or you could sell it for $4k-7k depending on how clean it is and what you end up doing to it. I love 2gs' and think Mutangs are mullet machines (yes I know they can make incredible power boosted, but so can a freakin Trans Am rofl) so maybe I'm bias, but I'd go for it.

Now if you're a noob to DSMs' and/or aren't a good mechanic then I'd say forget about it unless the shell is immaculate because you'd just waste a bunch of time and money and end up with the same thing you had before which is a glorified driveway ornament.

Well the real question is... is the 2G worth the same as the mustang in its current condition. Could I get 7-800 out of it if I sold it as is?

It seems like everyone wants AWD, and everyone wants a 2g. I'd almost guarantee even if the body is flawed, you would get $1000 minimum for just the shell. It looks like this car had a decent engine in it, so you'd definitely get more out of this car than you would your Mustang. I say definitely go for it.

The body is straight except for a small dent in the front drivers fender... the paint is for crap though. And the windows are a little clunky

The mustang actually has a real nice drivetrain, I could probably get 3-500 out of the motor/trans alone if I parted it

Hi, my name is Scott. I'm completely new to DSM's and recently just sold my Camaro Z28. I wanted to run this car by you experts to see what its all about. Almost sounds like too good of a deal to be true.... this is it:

1995 Eclipse GST 5 spd - red ext/gray leather interior
its in fairly good condition, no rust but faded paint
power everything, sunroof, A/C, etc
97 unpainted front bumper conversion

Rebuilt 6 bolt
Garrett Turbo running 18 psi
Turbo Timer
270 walbro fp
Type S BOV
Short Shifter
3" downpipe
3" thermal exhaust
670cc injectors (i think its 670cc he said or around there)
Lowered and Cambered

It sounds too good to be true for $4000

Wish I could get some pics up.... I know NOTHING about DSMs.... always been a chevy guy but my friends are DSM guys and have talked me into it (especially after I saw the numbers they ran w/ little modification). They say its a good deal - but i'd like to hear from some of the experts. Thanks

Oh should mention it was in craigslist for $1500 and no one picked it up.... He was firm at $1500 but still...

So here's the deal. Blew my engine in my 99 gsx. So my friend has a 91gsx for sale. His dad wants like 700, i offered 300 for many reasons. One its auto,he said the t-case froze so the t-case and driveshaft is gone(fwd) now. Timing belt needs to be replaced. And the car has been sitting for 2 years. I just need the block. Now tomorrow i am gonna do a compression test, but can i with a bad timing belt? And how much should i pay. Car has 137k

:thumb: Buy it, Part it out, make more $$$. buy new parts you need.
Ecu (if still good), intake , head, various parts will more than make up the 700 bones hes asking for..

Well. Thats if you have a storage spot and some way of hauling off the carcuss after ripping it apart.

Heck, Ive bought 500$ cars, just to take them and shoot then blow them up! talk about stress relief!

then beat it like this :beatentodeath: with anything heavy!

Yeah, make sure the engine is still ok. But even if its not thats a pretty good deal. I would do it...not like you have much to lose. Good luck.

Well I went today to do a comp test. from left to right. 120,150,150,150. We charged the battery, but the car didnt start. I figured it wouldnt sitting for 2 years. Timing belt fine i think. I took a pic. I dont know what the grove is on the left side of it. Is that normal. And after trying to start it at the end, i heard a knocking sound. Maybe i'll go back and make a video?

well I looked at that 95 talon AWD that I can trade a wrecked mustang for...

It looked alot better in the light than at night the first time I saw it :D.

Paint was actually ok except for the very back where a little bit was chipping off

interior isn't dirty, just the tear in the drivers seat. The missing kick panel is actually in the car

So i'm pretty happy actually with how it is, I think i'm definitely going to do the trade..... i'm thinking the cars worth 1k at least how it sits, what you guys think?

Hello,

Considering picking up a 97 TSI and would like some opinions on condition of car.

Keep in mind I would not be using the car as a "beater" but as a project car which would you be used for GO and show.

Its a Canadian car which was said to be stored winters and undercoated.

Car has 150K. I am not real concerned about the price but more the condition of the car to use as a Show and GO car...Built Motor, Tranny, etc.

Thanks
