he's not asking 1k.. but your response is noted.

As for your car... uhh can you be any more vague with the description and pic?

what is this 3 out of 5 piece puzzle wing you're talking about?

Condition of motor (leaks, oil burning, turbo, cooling etc)?

Paint/Body work

Interior (stains, tears missing parts etc)

Whats wrong with the headlights?

Trans?

Clutch?

more info the better we can estimate...

I am lookin at this car that is local, haven't seen it in person yet, just talked to him on another forum. Here is what his ad for the car says, it's a 91 Eagle Talon TSI AWD 5-speed.

This is a 91 Eagle Talon TSI AWD with a 5spd Transmision. I am selling the car due to lack of money and time to continue working on this car. It is extremely fast but it does need some work.

Mods:
Aftermarket Header(SBR I believe)
Straight 3" exhaust to magnaflow muffer(sounds awesome)
K&N Air Filter
Upper Intercooler Pipe
Greddy Type s BOV
Rebuilt With evo internals
17" Isw Wheels with nearly brand new tires
Short throw shifter

Replaced:
02 Sensor
Knock Sensor
Coolant Temp
Shifter Cables
Clutch pedal Rebuild
MasterCYl

The bad: The interior is great for its age except for the headliner.
The driver side fender is smashed on the bottom but all the plastic peices are still good, it should be an easy fix.
The front left wheel bearing needs replaced but I have that. along with a new tie rod end.
The car runs really rich and is having trouble starting now but sometimes it runs great.
3rd gear is going..it goes in sometimes but sometimes it wont.
Bassicly the car needs gone over from top to bottom just simplifying and fixing a lot of small things. It would make a great project car and would extremely cool once its done. I just dont have the time to finish it.

I'm asking 2500 obo or trade

I am thinking of trading an 06 KX250F dirtbike for it, the dirtbike needs a little minor work, but I have a round about idea of what they go for, I guess I'm just really curious what you guys think about this car and what its worth, maybe what it could possibly take to fix the mechanical things mentioned. This is all I know of the car so far, I have seen one pic and its looks like a real clean car. Sorry for the long post, any input is appreciated.

Find out the mileage. Drive it a couple times yourself. Take it to a garage and get it looked at that 100 bucks you spend doing this may save you 2500 bucks. What are your plans for the car? Are you going to do the work yourself if so then for sure its a project car. Seems like it needs alot of love. Good luck :thumb:

Thanks for the input guys, I just emailed him and told him I'm going to do some more research on it and hold off for right now, I already have a nice 2g eclipse but its a show car, with some go to boot, I just wanted the turbo all wheel drive, I just got rid of a turbo car a few months back and want another, never had a turbo DSM.

No worries man. Turbo DSM equal fun :D

I am thinking about possibly selling my 1995 GST because I don't really think turbo FWD is a good idea for winter, but really have no idea what it is worth.

Its a 1995 GST 5 spd. Gray leather interior, red exterior, 97 front bumper conversion, power everything (everything still works). AC and heat work fine. cruise control. 70k miles, but the title says "not actual mileage" (i didnt care tho because the 6bolt motor/turbo have less than 1000 miles on them). Body is in good shape, no rust or scratches but the paint is faded on side mirror and side of spoiler and has a few minor dings. Also WILL NOT pass emissions due to mods.

here are the specs:

6 bolt motor swap (about 750 miles)
14b ported turbo (recently ported) @ 18psi
255 walbro fp
680cc injectors
fidenza flywheel
ACT 2100 clutch
Intake
2.5" downpipe
2.5" thermal exhaust
lowered and cambered (correctly)
ARP head studs
NEW radiator, belts, alternator
Greddy Type S BOV
Gauges
Short Throw Shifter
Stock wheels w/ newer tires

I'm pretty sure thats it for mods - I bought the car from a DSM side shop mechanic who has treated me well. Overall the car is pretty nice and is pretty fast (mid 13s). He said I could probably get about $5500 for the car because its in great mechanical condition (I have put a lot more than that into it). I don't have pics - but it looks good and is clean.

What do you think its worth?

I will post pics this saturday when I have access to a digi camera. Otherwise if you assume there is no rust and just a few minor dings and overall good condition with those mods what would it be worth?

I'll post pics on Saturday or Sunday, but I'm just trying to get a preliminary idea of the worth. Thanks.

The information on the car is as follows:

1993 Eagle Talon, TSi AWD, 2 dr coupe, 5 sp.
109,xxx miles

Brand new clutch, timing belt, balance shaft belt, water pump, all assorted timing pulleys. Brand new A/C, power steering, and alt. belt. New battery, plugs, the works. Rebuilt U-Joints on driveshaft, brand new transfer case. Will have 4 brand new tires (got a flat today).

Known problems: Idle's too high. Takes a little effort to start when it's cold. Belts' squeal when its cold, but that's only because I haven't gotten around to tightening them.

$3000 or so for her.

So, I'm interested in the car, not as a tuner car or a drag car, but as a simple drive to school, through horrible Montanan winters. I'm just curious if this sounds like a good/acceptable deal and if the 'known problems' are anything serious.

I'd appreciate any advice when it comes to the car and bargaining. I don't want to pay too much, and I want to make sure I know what to look for when buying it.

Thanks in advance for any help!!

^^^Anything? I'll be making a trip to look at the car in less than 2 days. Again, any info would be much appreciated.

If you want a car to drive in the winter, and they say it wont start easily in the cold, I would look into that... I think I read that someone brought up maybe taking it to a known mechanic and having him look through it, spend about $200 on insurance before you buy it, have a private conference with the mechanic (or maybe have him tell the owner) and find out everything that is wrong/will need replacement.

As for price, I have no idea about DSM pricing really, but I usually go by the rule of thumb of offering less than what they are asking. If you have it, I would wave $2300 cash in their face. But bring about $2800 total if they will know settle for that low. Also, dont show that you REALLY want the car, if they kno wyou want it they wont let it go for cheap. And only go up in small increments. If they say asking $3000, wave the $2300 cash in their face. If they say to low offer $2400. If they refuse any offer lower than what they are asking, start to walk away. Chances are they will reason with you.

Hey the evo is going to happen right now and I need a car so I'm looking at 97-99 gsx's.

A lot of the gsx have been stock with 90k+ miles on the motors. Do these engines/trannys last much longer than that?

It's the same story with ANY car. It all depends on how well it has been treated in the past and how you continue to treat it in the future.

yeah the car i just bough has 168,000 and it seems great obivously it has its little problems but i have heard count less times that these engines ARE BULLET PROOF!

What should I look for when I look at them?

Would you guys be down with reviewing the cars I'm looking at?
