Hi, I want to try the noisy lifter solution as presented by Michael Ferrara at mw.dsm.org/tipdetail.asp?TipID=8 but I am having trouble locating what he calls the direct port vacuum line at the throttle body and on the driver's side of the manifold. Where is it?
Thanks,
Jeff

I have heard that lucas oil treatment will get rid of it....anyone have any luck with that...

I use Lucas w/ Mobil One synthetic -- sometimes the lifters tick, sometimes they don't. It's crazy.

A few months ago I used Valvoline "High Mileage" dino when I changed my oil. The lifters ticked like never before! LOUD! I couldn't stand it so I changed the oil the next day using my usual concoction of Lucas and Mobil One. Sure quieted things down!

I agree with dsm4life, once you have lifter tick you'll always have it in some form or another (unless you upgrade the lifters). I've lived with it for over 70K miles and although annoying at times, it doesn't appear to reduce performance (granted, I'm driving a N/T 420a) or cause mechanical problems.

Go to wal-mart or autozone and buy some stuff called engine restore, it's in a silver can and it's made for 4,6 & 8 cylinder applications. Just pour it in with your next oil change and it will make your lifters quiet. I'm not a big fan of a fix in a can but for some reason this stuff really works.

I also heard the Gunk's Engine Flush works well b4 you change the oil. This problem sucks, I really don't want to have to change out my lifters, that doesnt sound like much fun to me...ugh...

umm its not hard to change lifter very easy to do. but its not that of the lifters its the lash adjusters you need to replace them.

i cleaned my lifters and th e lifter tick barely quieted down. it is a paint to seat the rocker arms back on. and sometimes paintful when ur dam flat head slips and stabs you in the finger. haha.Other then that.easy.

My dad replaced the lifters on my bro's 6G72 while rebuilding it, pretty much no noise anymore and now he is on Mobil 1 synthetic.
