My lifters are shot and I have new ones but never got around to putting them in yet. Is there anything that I could run through my car that will reduce the noise level. I'm goin away tomorrow and I wanna get rid of the terrible sound.

Alot of people that I know who have had lifter tick switched the Mitsu dealer oil filter and after that the tick more or less went away and only got better with each oil change. I couldn't tell you why but it works.

There is a thread on this. Use 1 Can of Gunk engine flush, change oil and USE MITSU OIL FILTER! Befor you add the fresh oil, add 1 can of Lucus oil stabilizer. Repeat this process for the next couple of oil changes for higher millage engines. If that dont work then change you lifters. BUT ALWAYS USE MITSU OIL FILTER!!

I tried a lot of stuff out there for the 'noisy lifters'!!
I remember my 95 GST had it bad, and I had a K&N Oil filter and Mobil 1 Fully Syn.
A friend said add some cheap Walmart oil aditive?? it was like $5!
I did, that stuff was thicker then hell!! I added the stuff ran the engine at idle for a couple of min and the ticking dissapered!! I"m like you gotta be shitting me!!!!!(
I drove the car another 500 some miles, and the ticking never came back, then the car was sold.
I just added last week the same stuff in my Mazda and it stopped the small oil burning problem and the lifter noise!!!!!!
I will look up the bottle and the name tomorrow morning and get back to you guys.
I can't really belive that it worked, but my lifters are nosy...not anymore!!
go walmart LOL

An hour to change the lifters?? It took me 3 hours just trying to get the damn rocker arms back on the lifters.

Reminds me of when someone told me that it takes 30 minutes to pull the oil pan on a 2g AWD. OMG it was a bit longer my first time. Folks need to consider the difference between the first time and the tenth time.

True enough. My bad.
First time around took me about 3-4 hrs, now we kinda got it down to science.
Mitsu oil filter is a good recomendation.

my lifters were very noisy, so I removed the cams and used a sewing needle to clean the small oil holes in the lifters, 3 of them were seriously clogged. Now no tick at all!
