I have seen a GT42R recently ( I am debating getting one in place of the turbo I have for my 355 cu.in. WS6 build I am doing ) That is MORE than what I would like to shove under the hood even with the stroker OMG Badass turbo though, and it is capable of making a huge amount of power on pumpgas....

There was a GT42R dyno posted on a 1.8L motor on honda-tech, it made 25 pounds of boost by 7500 RPM's with the 1.05 hot side. On a 2.4 you're probably talking 6300 RPM's for full spool. He said it spooled better than a PT71-GTQ .68 A/R, so it can't be that bad for what a mammoth turbo that is.

Actually, idk what the size difference is between a gt40r and a gt42r, but my buddies civic w/ a b18c1 swap made 611 @ 25psi. All i gotta say is just look around. You have a lot of options :)

Holset HX-40. Check out the Holset part 2 thread, sweet97 as author. I run near 30PSI on pump though I have a DSMchip with extended maps. My only tuning device right now is a MAFT. My best et is an 11.80 and best trap is 117. There is a guy making better mph by nearly 10MPH and 2-3 tenths quicker with stock intake and cams. He has much better btuning than I do. I plan on a high 10 next season on pump, 93 octane. A map was recently posted that I was told shows the turbo is very efficient. See for yourself. Mark

Id say if you have a built motor, with all the other goodies like everyone else said like smim, cams, possible stand alone, go with a gt35r w/ the garrett housing. That turbo is pretty reasonable and if you want something you can push less boost and more power from and still have pretty reasonable spool, go with a gt40. Idk the specs as to what he was running, but my buddy's b18 with that turbo and everything else made close to 350whp at 10psi.

Meth / water injection should help you a pretty good amount.. It's what I'm going to try with my 60-1.

even if you accomplish 500awhp your motor wont be able to take that very long being stock and all.....

Stock motors can take 500whp forever. Look at Blaha's old car, stock internals ran a 10.5 years ago and that car is still driving around.

They may be able to last if your setup is perfect. But when something goes wrong(I.E. running to lean for a second) it's going to grenade a lot easier than a built motor would.

IMHO, i think people put too much faith in a turbo's efficiency at a given boost. With good intercooling it really isn't that important. That being said, your 60-1 is probably more than capablem. You are going to need a good flowing hotside ( I am not a fan of the PTE/SBR/bullseye housings), a nice set of cams and a sheet metal intake manifold. I would also think you need some sort of timng control as well. A car with those mods should be a solid 11 sec acr on pump at stock weight.

I know that I was talkin pump gas numbers but i pretty much went with a race turbo even though I will make good power on pump. I got the sbr gt14 off a guy and got my hands on a dejon tool smim and i'm getting fp2 cams trying to make 500awhp and yes a stock 6 bolt will take that all day you just have to tune right and i don't care how built your moto is if you run real lean you will blow it with this kinda power.

My car runs high 11`s on pump gas with a evo316g.
You should be able to run low 11`s with a 60-1 on pump gas.

I have a turbonetics 60-1 that came in a great deal package so don't jusmp on my balls for buying a turbo that isn't 100% what I was lookin for if I tell you the deal you would have taken it to LOL. I need to sell this 60-1 and get a turbo that I can make 450-500awhp on 93octane. I don't want a turbo that takes till tomorrow to spool but i'm not gonna cry about slower than stock spool or stretability.

A couple turbos I was lookin at are of course the FP3065 FP Red FP Green, the PTE SCM61. I don't want ppl to be like well this company claims and this compny claims just first hand or atleast seeing a friend's dyno proven performance. Thanks a lot fellas :thumb:

Other than the FP green, any of the above turbos can make 450-500 WHP on pump gas.

My favorite for 450 WHP on pump is simply the GT35R. You can make 450-500 WHP on pump in almost any turbine housing (T3, Bullseye, PTE, FP, SBR) and retain the factory manifold and o2 housings.

If you are looking for more than 450 WHP I would suggest going external however, as it makes life easier when trying to run higher boost levels. From what we have seen here, ever the best internal WG's have trouble over 25-27 PSI.

Maybe in your 2g, but not a stock 6 bolt.

DSMs are turning into Hondas. What's the point of DSMs if you're just going to build the motor. It defeats the entire purpose of buying one.

Having a 6 bolt still doesnt' change the fact that if your setup isn't close to perfect your motor won't last. I am not saying that having a built motor doesn't make it indestructable, i'm just saying it's much more reliable.

Isn't the SCM61 and the FP Red basically the same thing as a 60-1? Wouldn't all these turbos listed above spool up about the same rpm about 4000.

SC61 comp wheel flows more and is more efficient, should make more power at the same boost level and spool about the same. If I wanted 500 AWHP I'd look into something big like a PT67, GT4067, GT40R, PT71-GTQ, etc. But maybe that's just me.

My gt14 is rated to 650hp take away 100 and your where most ppl get to who aren't like tunning gurus and your still 50 hp over my goal and i either have or will have every bolt on helper besides ported head you can get.

I second the GT35R. Not the bolt on crap, but a true Garrett GT35R. Or if you really want a bolt on turbo, then the Fp3065. The turbine housing is key in making good power with a nice broad powerband. Almost every bolt on turbine housing for a dsm (except the FP30) will sacrifice a lot of power compared to a large T-3 turbine housing.

Some of the highest numbers I've seen with FP3065 on pump is slightly over 400 at 23-24psi. Some locals see 475whp @ 30psi on .63 a/r t3 housing 35r and 530whp on 30psi with t4 35r. I think you can sqeeze 450whp on pump at like 24psi with a t3 35r but you are gonna have to be a helluva a tuner. The best street turbo I've seen on a DSM, and this is more recent, is a t4 35r with some square lobe cams(fp3s), be ready to make some serious midrange torque at the juncture. These are all on 2.0L motors BTW.

I second the 60-1 you already have with a frontmount and Water Injection. I remember running my SMALL 16G to 23 psi with a topmount t-bird turbo coup ic mounted up front (smallish, but good flow) and a cheap water injection kit. My entire intake mani was ICE cold in the middle of July. Besides, I have been impressed by some of the guys around who have gotten big numbers similar to what you're looking for (if you don't mind spoolup by 4100rpms) with the 60-1 and pump. That's why i just bought one this past tuesday :) .

IMHO: A good intercooler or a decent intercooler w/ water injection covers a multitude of sins :D .
