hey what would the best exhaust set up be for a awd dsm 2g. with the following supporting mods?

EvoIII turbo
255lph fuel pump
What size injectors should i get?
DSM LINK or SAFC?
Injen CAI
MBC
UICP (this means upper intercooler pipes right?, not 100% sure)
Wastegate(whats the best waste gate also)

thats about all the engine mods i want to do because i want this to be my daily driver and i also live in california so all i have is 91 octane, what boost can this safely run at also?

i have a turbocharged ford festiva thats my next project car. i already have the car just gotta get the turbo engine and build it ..think about the possibiltys - eventually a 300 hp turbo in a 1600 pound car, thatll be my weekend beater/sleeper car tho.

ill reply before you get the thread closed for bench racing.. but...... theres no real "best setup" . its all how you want it.... some people love launching, some people love highway pulls. what you need to do is ask your self what kind of power you want...? to beat stock v-8s? go with an evo3b16g. wanna pull on modded v-8s...? go with 50 and larger trims... its all about what makes you happy in your butt-dyno :dsm:

i guess i should get a bigger turbo for better top end, since i have awd to make up for the bottom right?

Are you sure about that? LOL! I beat more than a few "modded" 5.0's, 4.6's, and one or two LT1's (no LS1's though... those are damn fast) on my T-twentyslow.

The Evo316g pulls hard all the way to redline; it's your stock cams that will hold your top-end down. Build the head... and tune the piss out of it. :thumb:

your not racing the right modded v-8s if your pulling with the t-25... trust me... but yea dude...go with a 50 trim i bet you'll be happy with it instead of evo. do some head work and you'll be a top end king. i ordered an agp rs49t and should be here soon. i will definitely post up how it does if you like...maybe some vids and pics...

Well it is all personal preference but I'll tell you what I like/suggest

For exhaust Im running a 3" RRE downpipe with their high flow cat to an Apexi N1 catback exhaust (3"), it sounds amazing nice and quiet under normal driving and only slightly louder under WOT.

There are lots of other goods exhausts as well such as greddy, rsr, etc. I would go with 3", less backpressure is always better in a turbo

For injectors go with 550 min. lots of people have maxed the 550's out with the EVOIII16g turbo so I would recommend 650's (if you go with dsmlink get even bigger because it can control them all the same, I have 750's)

Go DSMLink if you have the extra cash, well worth the extra cost.

Just stick eith an internal WG on the EVO, depending on how much boost you run you will probably want to get the 34mm flapper mod.

The boost you run depends on alot of things such as fuel, intake temp. etc. If you still run on the stock side mount intercooler that will probably be your limiting factor. Once tuned properly with the proper supporting mods you should be able to run 18 psi as a daily driver

You also need a new blow off valve as the factory 2g one will leak at over 13 psi. Lots of upgrades out there, Greddy one works well & so does the factory 1g

There is a tonn of info on the net on moddin dsm's just do some reasearch and you will be able to figure out what you need for your goal :thumb:

alright guys thanks for the info, what are some good street cams that will help me open up on the top end but not kill my low end torque. im really into just improving the whole powerband a little bit than just totally killing low end to improve top end vice versa. so its killen me to know which turbo to go with or turbo and cam combo.

A set of Webcam camshafts w/ fidanza gears and a good tune with really give you good top end torque. Especially with a EVO turbo. It takes a lot to max out the 550's. If you have good supporting fuel mods i.e. FPR, rails, lines you'll be golden. :thumb:

Sorry, but I was. I know this because they're my friends. I don't really care what you think. See, it's what YOU think... I'm telling you something I know. 4.6's and 5.0's lighty modded aren't that fast... at all. T-25's can do 14 second qt's. I've seen LT1 SS's do mid 14's at the track. It's all about the driver. I'm in V8 paradise right now. Trust me.

It really depends on the V8 & how many mods they are running. With my t25 I raced 5.0's stock & some that had the usual bolt ons an had no problem pulling away, also raced a 95 ss camaro (stock, 285hp) and pulled on him. Now I also raced my buddies done up 97 svt cobra and he pulled on me (not that much) & my old mans 95 vette & he too pulled on me. Now if your talking about a modded Z06 corvette or even a stock one, of couse its gonna be a joke racing it with you t25, but it will hold its own against many of the V8's on the road. 14 seconds flat with the t25, some guys have even run high 13's on them, lots of V8's are midle to high 14's, but theres always exceptions.

Agreed. :thumb:

ok you are racing v-8s that arent modded enough... prolly 5.0 with exhaust and pulleys.... thats not modded!! compare yours to theirs. i was in my friends 5.0 when he raced a gs-t barely modded.. and gs-t definitely could beat him if he had more.. but the 5.0 what pretty much stock too. watch how you talk so surely of beating modded v-8s... they obviously weren't enough. i love my gs-t, but i know i got a while to beat nicely modded ones that will make the owners feel ashamed for how much they have done and get smoked by a "girlie convertible". trust me, i feel the need to shut these guys up. but be fair and realistic..

Well for one the SS didn't come back until 1996, and LT1 SS's had 305 HP. So be even happier!! Stock an SS will run high 13's with a good driver. My '95 Camaro Z28 ran 13.8's mostly stock and it had an automatic and 2.73 gears. So an SS would run at least that. I'm also an FBody guy so lets be nice :p I've seen LS1's go low 13's bone stock, I've also seen them go in the 14's. LT1's should be easy 13 second cars but as you see when you go to the track most people can't drive.
As far as your setup-how do you California guys even MODIFY your cars?? Don't the smog Nazi's get on you?? For that low of octane I'd certainly go with 650's and get DSM Link if you can. Also a big front mount OR you might wanna look into water injection if you are really down on money. Lastly try to find what other Cally guys are running on their setups, you can't copy my setup I have to suffer with Ultra 94 here in Pa :thumb:

in no way am i tryin to put anyone down. but sum people are not realistic. its hard to own a v-8 thats had its share of make overs.. trust me. all my friends have v-8s, i know what they can do... and it sucks... im slowly catching up....

Umm my friend put a supercharger on his 4.6l Mustang, and I beat him with my small16g. Then he put nitrous on it and I still beat him (he blew up both motors). Either was his fastest time was a 12.58. The 4.6L to me is a real dog. Also his car had a lot done to it, and dyno tuned, and all the parts installed by a guy featured in Fast Fords.

modded V8's whatever, the original post was should he get a bigger turbo? i say no the evo16 is prolly one of the best street turbo's there is. i think slow boy made 400 whp last year on a evo 16g. i have a RS49 i love thetop end power, i love the external wastegate no creep, but some times the spool time is just a little more than i would like... stick with the evo they are cheap a sinch to install and make great power ... tune it right and get a helmet even "stout" V8's will have trouble keeping up in the 1/4

Actually it was Best Exhaust, and wastegate (if he goes with one). Personally I think the Apex N1 full 3" is the best for an awd 2g, and I would go internal gate for that b16g since it really doesn't need to be external.

alright guys thanks for the info, good to see we got back on topic.ya i dont really care about smog, theres always a way around everything. you just have to know the right people. and i know somebody that can register my car as a kit car so i can drive it on the street and i dont even have to smog it. :shhh:
