Bosal 3" ss catback

Megan 3" SS downpipe.

Tubular O2

You will need about 4" long by 3" section of tubing to get a 3" dp to cat back transition...

I gotta shoot those pics. It just fits so clean under the chasis and was cheap..

best exhaust setup would be none.

theyre all the same, just apexi has been known to have 2million reducers in their " 3" " overpriced catbacks. rnr is a copy of buschur i believe.

i suggest you make your own exhaust for 200 dollars. then you may choose a muffler you want.

apexi dp is lousy along with the rest of their piping.

where can i find the megan products. i didnt think that they had any specific bolt on parts for our cars?

WTF? My Apex downpipe is of excellent quality. Any downpipe is just one piece of pipe with a couple of bends, how could any downpipe be lousy unless it is of poor quality? The Apex exhausts do have one reducer at the muffler but that's it. That's why I have an Greddy EVO, its all 3".

theres reducers all over it. im not saying the quality is bad. im saying its just not a full 3" like one would expect.

I took a thorough look at my downpipe before I installed it. Where are the reducers you are talking about?

i have the 3" apex GT spec downpipe and there is no reducer in it. and my pipes are all custom made 3" with no cat and there is no reducer on the dunk. how does that greddy EVO sound? it looks like a nice exhaust.

so will a apex'i dp bolt up to any catback exhast? i read it only bolts to apex'i catbacks?

It won't bolt on to all cat-backs. The Apex N1 & GT downpipes are longer than the stock downpipe & catalytic converter assembly. This is because Apex, RNR, & Greddy EVO exhaust don't bolt directly to the cat. They come with a 3" (est.) reducer that you fit in between so if you decide to eliminate the cat with a DP, you will end up with a straight 3" exhaust. It is best to ensure that the cat-back exhaust you buy has this feature before you buy it.

I like it because it was quiet when attached to the cat. Now with the downpipe it is louder but not as loud as some other setups I have heard. I haven't seen comparisons for DSM's but I have a couple of Turbo magazines that have exhaust comparisons for WRX's and Supra's and the EVO finished at or near the top of each category (hp/tq/etc.)while being the quietest.

i got a thermal and love it. With my stock downpipe it was very quite after 3,000 rpms and the engine/ turbo noise took over. I recently purchased a SS Apexi DP and cut off the 2.5" section on the thermal. Then welded a 3" flange to the thermal. Make sure the flange is 3" 2 bolt style to mate with the apexi downpipe. Took about an hour tops to do all the cutting, welding, and putting it in place. After all of this the exhaust note is very nice. You hear it all the way thorugh the rpm range. Also get some extra pull and the turbo spools a little quicker but you can feel the diffrence in power. Overall i am very happy with my choice to go with the thermal catback and apexi downpipe. It is a true 3" SS from the flex back. I dont get any boost creep. I did get a check engine light till 2 days after install but reset ecu and havnt got it since.

It's a pain in the ass to cut and weld on an exhaust. If he's going with a DP, he's better off getting another exhaust. The thermals sound good but don't make any more power than any other 3" exhaust.

It's also a pain in the ass to drive to a shop to have it done for you. Speaking of being better off...I'll be getting an RSR dp for 165 and Axis Power Racing of St. Louis is building my catback (straight through 3" mandrel-bent piping with resonator after the cat with straight through 3" Magnaflow muffler with the tip of my choice) for 280. Turbo back for the same price as some of you guys paid for your catback...

It's proven, that thermal is the storebought exhaust with the most gain's.

is it true that thermal and apex'i give the best hp and troque gains? what is the best dp (3" from flex back) to fit the greddy and thermal? any of them just bolt on, no cutting?

so what would be a good dp for the thermal exhaust?
what would be a good dp for the greddy?

thx

The only reducer for my n1 downpipe is still sitting in my closet. Its 2.5" off the o2 housing, at the flex section goes to 3" and is a straight pipe from there to the flange for the cat back. (Which is where you would use the reducer if bolting to the stock cat back)

I had a friend who didn't believe me and had to see it measured for his own eyes.....
