tapping between 3k-4k rpms

my 93 tsi is taping between 2.5k and 4k rpms. i was told its coming from up top but i dont know. i think its weird that it only happens between that rpm. any ideas?

Could it be time for a valve adjustment? Does is sound like pinging at all or tapping? Could be the lifters ticking. We need more info

i dont know its just tapping between 2.5k and 4k rpms. it doesnt do it at idle just between 2.5 and 4k
