Toronto,
Hello,

What would you veterans suggest is the best and lightest four door car I can drop a talon engine in? Taking into consideration originality (style), availability to parts and price of car. Also, this might be a stupid question but can I weld new engine mounts if it doesnt quite fit? Or would that be too dangerous?

Turbo FWD engine.

I'm pretty sure that the 4g63 is already in a medium sized 4 door car not sure if it's turbo'd though and forgot the name, some help-- you should look into that-- sleeper

the mitsubishi galant is the car you are looking for... not to sure about FWD applications but it should be pretty straightforward.

i wouldnt modify ur mounts by welding unless ur sure of your self..but as for other cars do it to somthing no one would expect like 90's crx (just to make the honda owners mad :thumb: ). ive seen it done to a couple of diffrent vehicles like at the shoot out a 30's modle truck last year w/ a 4g63 in it...

yea, i saw a civic with a 4g63t, also with a hyndui (dunno how its spelled) vavle cover just to add extra sleeperness to it, it was for sale for like 5k, im guessing its sold, plus i dont remeber the link so it isnt really important...

Yea, I would say just put it in like a crx or something (if it would fit). Because they are really light so with the 200hp the 4g63t gives it, it would probably be pretty fast. Not the prettiest cars ROFL , but it would be fast. And that is before you start modding. But if you are looking for a 4 door. Could do a 4 door civic, they are light and if someone saw that it was turboed they would be like, eh a turbo civic probably runs mid 14's. Then if you mod it with that light of a car you should be well into the 12's, maybe 11's. Nobody would know :shhh: .

what would be the point of putting it in a crx. you can get a jdm b16 for the same price and it would fit in easier.

Hehe.. too late with the sonata.. my neighbours buddy has a 500 hp sonata. 93 I believe. I looked in the trader.ca for older mitsus and what not but couldnt find many. I guess the best thing would be a 93-94 civic.

How about a corolla or a jetta..

also, is there a difference between a talon engine and a jdm? Other than its from japan?

mabie even earlier....

i need pros and cons to all these cars... can they handle a jdm mitsubishi or will they fall apart over 300-350 horse??

Anyone who assumes a turbo civic only runs mid 14's deserves to lose.

..look at a dyno of thie b16 powerband, and then look at a dyno of a 4g63.

thats why you shouldn't use the b16.

two people with turbo civics in my area run low 14s. I believe thats the result of trying to get power out of the D-series motors.

There is one guy thou, with a turbokit on a civic, [forget what engine he has] and he is running low 11s. took out a turbo ls1 awhile ago on the highway.

give me a link and i will be more then happy to look at the dyno powerbands. but its still a waste of time for convience purposes.

look in the classied section or i have a 7 bolt block 6 bolt head full motor for sale.... :talon:

7g Galant(94-98)! They are sexy :p

Check my galery for pics. No motor mount modding is required except for the normal 6bolt in a 2g driver side mount. Wiring, I used a 98 GSX ECU, pretty easy to require, followed a few tutorials and the Magnus 1g in a 2g tutorial.

7g Galants weigh in at abou 2600-2800lbs depending on the model. And I can only think of 3 or 4 swapped 7gs in the US :thumb:

Civics are really hit or miss. The usual I have seen for turbo d series civics are low 14's without other major mods like built to hell engine, or major weight reduction. That's just my experience. I am sure there are exceptions that run 12's with not THAT much done.

I wasn't talking about what fit the best. I was saying where he could put a 4g63 because that was the question.

Yep I agree with the first answer you got. Look in the classifieds for someone parting their car out for an engine.

Pick yourself up a 94 or 95 (NOT 93!) Hyundai S-Coupe Turbo. (comes with the mirage 1.5, but turboed). I'm pretty sure it is either a direct drop in or very easy to do. A 4G63 S-Coupe won Pikes Peak FWD a while back. They weigh just a hair over 2000lbs so that motor in them is pretty sweet. They don't look half bad either.

Check out hyundaiperformance.com

I have a few old S-Coupe parts around if you end up needing any, though not too much.

For ####ing christs sake.... ANY mitsubishis other than 3000 gts prior to 1999 are ####ing extinct in Ontario... this is ####ing ridiculous..

are they that good? no ones tryin to get ridda one?

my budget will be around 2500 to 3000..

so 1400 for engine and hopefully under a grand for car.. thats why I want something small, light, old and four door..
