Tail light help

I was driving to work tonite and hit a pothole and blew the fuse for the tail lights I tried putting a bigger one in just to make it to work (big mistake) after like 3 mins smoke started coming from underneath the dash
My question is does anybody know the colors of the wires and where about I should look for them I did a quick glance and couldn't see where the burnt parts is

If Iam not mistaking behind the rear plastic panel. Theres 3 wires per tail light if Iam not mistaking theres a black, green with white and something else. If someone else wants to chime in I could be wrong.

Ok so those wires should be the same color all the way through the car ### the problem is under the dash I got off work tommrow night hopefully I can get it fixed

It's horrible goin from that car to my girlfriends sunfire

Pull the dash. There will be a large bundle of wires (73 wires i believe) that run across the car following a reinforcement bar. Put the fuse back in for the tail lights and turn them on for about ten seconds (or less, if you see something smoking). Run your hand over the bundle of wires to find the warm spot. That is where the problem is.
The whole dash pulling prosedure is quite long, so before you do that take off interior body panels on drivers side to uncover the harness that goes to the taillights and examine it for obvious damages. A large black ground wire runs all the way to the back. Something might have shorted to it.
And before you do that, take a volt meter and test the taillight wires by removing the bulb and testing for conductivity (short) between green/white wire, solid green wire, and a spot on the car (ground). This will tell you where to look for issues. The Green/white wire is for tail lights (parts that turns on whith headlights) and solid green is for the brake lights (that come on when brake pedal is pushed).

Ok so I pulled the fuse box under the dash and one of the connectors that plugs in has 3 green wires with white stripes one of those was melted I cut that wire and put a fuse in the spot and everything that you would notice on a daily basis works but hook that wire up the fuse blows instantly
I guess I'm just gunna leave that wire alone or eventually take it somewhere to have it fixed the right way I hate wiring
