canada,
During a brisk acceleration the tachometer shot up momentarily to 6k and then dropped to 0 where it stayed ever since. I've checked all the wires under the hood to make sure nothing is loose and everything seems ok. Has anyone had a similar problem?

I would take apart the whole gauge bezel and check the connections in the dash. You might have some sort of issue there.

Behind your intake manifold is a silver box about 2 inches long w/ a flat piece and a hole through it to bolt it to a ground. Check that and make sure its grounded.

your profile dosent say your make and modle fill that crap out!!!

if its a 90 then yes there is a small tach noise filter 95$ oem piece of shit little silber box, it on on 90's ONLY, if it isnt connected then yes you tach will f**k up if its a 91-99 then you may have a short or a touchy ground at some point in the system that is causeing you issues

good luck,

Yes, it is a '90. I will go take a looksee right now, right after I update my profile :).
