So in doing some research this morning, I have come to a rather simple question probably, but one that I am not sure of the answer myself nor am I able to find the answer through searching the internet.

I currently have a 45 trim standard T3, with .42 AR compressor housing. I am looking to upgrade to a 60 trim compressor wheel, so I have been searching and came across these measurements vs my own.

T3 60 Trim Wheel-( the one I plan to purchase )
Inducer = 46.48 Exducer = 60.10

And my own wheels measurements-
Inducer = 40.48 Exducer = 60.10

The inlet (not inducer) on my current compressor is 40mm, since the Exducer measures out to be the same between the 2 different wheels, do I really even need to get a bigger housing if the bigger part of the wheel (exducer) is the same size as the 45 trim? Or can I simply just have my .42 AR housing machined at the inlet to accept the 60 trim's bigger inducer? If possible, how would this affect flow if any? If not do I need a ".60 AR" compressor housing?

Sorry if it comes off as noobish, searching for 6.5 hours only got me so far and I called ATP and a turbo repair shop/seller in Texas to not much progress I decided it was time to come here...

You cannot just machine the inlet to the larger size- the entire contour of where the wheel fits the housing is completely different and must be CNC'd to fit properly or you'll ruin the turbo's efficiency.

If you ask me, it's not worth the aggravation to basically upgrade from a 16G to an 18G wheel (in MHI terms) when there are a heap of more efficient wheels out there available in a housing combo that would be a direct-fit upgrade for your car....unless this is not going on your GST.
