T25 vs TD04HL 13G???

I dont know if the 13G is the same as a 13B. I know the 13B came off the AUTO AWD 1G's. And I would hope it is better than the T-25. Are they the same turbo, or have I mistaked the 13B for the 13G all along?

Hmmm...I guess I'll go with the T25, I just heard that the TD04HL flows like 40 cfm better. I researched the TD04HL 13G and it seems like it is the same turbo from VR-4. But since a majority of you guys say that the T25 is better, than I'll stick with that one then...unless any of you have any more input/proof that the TD04HL is better...

Go with the t25? It's not better than anything. It's honestly one of the smallest turbos ever. Does your car have a blown turbo? Why would you ever choose to go with the turbo that came stock on your car? At least upgrade to a t-28 or something similar. Identical turbo, complete drop-in, but more power.

The 13b? Why would you go to the trouble of putting that turbo in a 2g.... to only have a 13g? If you're going to the trouble of using a 1g style turbo with a J-pipe, at least use a 14b... or even a 16g.

Just look at the upgrade path for the 2g. Did you ever wonder why upgrading the turbo is part of stage 1 for the 2g? Oh yeah, it's because the t25 is a miniature POS.

I only asked which one is better: T25 or TD04HL. I blew my motor and was wondering whether I should just use my stock T25 off my blown motor or the TD04HL 13G off the JDM motor.

This is an online DSM community where we help each other out, not talk shlt.

Just fyi, all twin turbo vr4/stealth RT/TT came with 9b's stock

The biggest t25 compressor wheel (the t-25 60 trim) flows under 25 lbs/min. . .

The 13G compresor wheel (the TD04 13G) max flow is OVER 350 cfm.

cfm X .08 ≈ lbs/min. So the 13G compressor flows over 28 lbs/min.

lbs/min X 10.5 ≈ HP. So t25 => 263 hp max. And 13G => 295 hp max. 32 hp difference!!! A little upgrade for sure.

But none of this matters, if the hotside doesn't flow this much air. Do some research on the td04hL wheel and update us:thumb: .

Thanks for the info, I tried doing research on it but you've provided more than I could find.

Here's another thing I noticed though...the T25 has an inlet and an outlet going from the air filter to the turbo to the intercooler. But the TD04HL has another opening facing up. What's that outlet for?

Do you mean the 2 bolt flange on the compressor housing? That is the style of the outlet to the intercooler of all smaller MHI turbos. See my small 16g below. You're now discovering that a Mitsubishi turbo is not a direct bolt on to your 2G Mitsubishi Eclipse :(

Yeaaaa...that's just what I'm talking about. I guess I'll just stick with my T25 until I upgrade my turbo. But just out of curiosity, how do you install that turbo since it's not direct bolt on?

Not to nit-pick but yes all tt vr-4 / stealth rt/tt came with 9b's but then y do they upgrade to the JDM motor? bigger turbos just like us:p

1g's MT 14b
1g's AT 13g
1g's JDM Big or Small 16g (I've seen both)

I've hear a maybe on this; but never a varification that the jdm 3000 gt has the 13G. The maybe's all say that they have larger turbine housings than the american automatic T/E/L 13g. 6 cm^2 vs. 5 cm^2.

It's kind of rediculous to swap entire engines just to get a bigger turbo or pair of turbos WTF . . .

I always thought that 1g automatics came with a 13g, not a 13b....but i could be mistaken. Anyway, do whatever you want theres not a HUGE difference between the 2.

They upgrade because 9b's are small and can't hold much past 15-16psi. I dont know what you mean by upgrading to a JDM motor for bigger turbos. IIRC 13Gs are bolt on replacement turbos for a VR-4 and one of the more common turbo upgrades. 3S cars dont need to swap an engine for bigger turbos, though they do need TD05 headers/manifold to run 14Bs, 15G, 16Gs etc

It's only on the GTO MR. They are regular 13g's.

I say the large housing 13g will be a better turbo.
