T25 swap to t28, do I need to tune after???

Hi, this is my first post on here and I apologize for my extreme newbieness. I just turned 17 and it's time for me to get my first car. I thought I'd go along with a 1999 gst. I have a basic knowledge of cars and have worked on them but never messed around with a turbo. If I were to one day want a bigger turbo like a t28 would I need to tune the car? I have no knowledge of tuning and have never been to a dyno so if I would need to tune the car professionally how would I get it done? What are the costs to have someone tune it for me? Just a simple question I was hoping that one of you guys could explain to me! Thanks, and I apologize again if this question is stupid!

Google is your friend sir, dont be afraid to use it.
But in short, yes you can upgrade to a t28 without a tune as long as you keep the boost down. A deadly combo that my friend is running is a t28, Supra SMIC, hard IC piping, Injen intake, boost controller, and 3 inch exhaust. This is bar far one of the best street combos out there without needing a tune. Car pulls hard for a stock fuel map and you dont have to worry about overheating issues that comes with a FMIC.

A tune will add power but you really don't NEED one unless you make changes to your fuel system.

With the right mods and a proper tune, you will gain more from the turbo swap!! Every setup could use some fine tuning to get the maximum performance or effiency out of a setup! The best first mod you could do is get tuning software like ecmlink and learn it! You will gain more knowledge of the car and its abilities this way over just throwing bolt on parts at it!

You *can* swap to a T28 and not re-tune the car because, as mentioned earlier, you don't really need a tuning solution until you step to larger injectors.

HOWEVER, the factory ECU's fuel and timing maps are geared around the quick spool of a T25 so it's possible you could unlock some hidden power and better drivability just by doing some mods to the factory fuel and timing maps without actually stepping up in injector size if you have the proper tuning tools.
