Alright, my friend has this brand new turbo he is selling. I have it sitting on my desk right next to me. But I have no Idea if it is a T25 or T28. I searced the forums, looked at pictures showing the difference between the two, but still can't decide. The part # plate says
MADE IN JAPAN

If any advice, I would appreciate it. Thanks
Sorry don't have camara to take pics.

Have fun. I put a T28 on my TSi. i compared it to the T25 that came off the car. They looked the same. The housing is the same and has the same markings as the T25. The only differance was that the wheel on the T28 looked different. The T28 for the DSM is actualy a T28 in a T25 housing.

Ok I took off my injen pipe off my T25 to estimate the size of the comp wheel. To me the one on my car was alot smaller and the flange that connected to my turbo to intake was alot thicker. So I'm now consuming it is a T28. As for everything else, I checked the shaft play and there is a slight movement up/down and left/right about 1-2mm on the T28. Is this normal considering there is no oil inside. From my inspection it looks like a brand new turbo(no rubbing sounds when turning the wheels, housing shows no sign of scrapes, wheel has no dents, scrapes, or damage to it, and no signs of tiny stress cracks anywhere, basically a brand new turbo). If any advise, please feel free to post it.

Do you know the diameter of the wheel??

Are you going to crack off the compressor housing to measure the compressor wheel diameter?

a T25 have the dual fin compressor

while the T28 is single

Are you sure about that?

Every image of a 28 I'm finding has dual fin.

I have externally gated AGP T28 on mine, which looks (by looking at the compressor blades) like a T25...

Thanks man, I looked at the pics stated above and the one I have looks exactly the same. But what gets me is the 1-2mm tiny amount of shaft play. I read somewhere that this is normal for a brand new turbo with no oil inside.
