ps. you don't need no stinkin' 1G to fight yer battles for ya; just get a bigT28 and do it yourself

That's a good idea..You could swap your turbo for a BigT28 and she'll never know it visually..That would really give her a run.

Without reading all of the replies all the way through, can your mom drive (has she been to the track with the SS before)? Seen too many times the people with 6 speeds spin off the line or miss a shift etc. I'd say you have a really good chance if you have a good clean pass. If she had an auto, you'd be screwed...

Haha this is an awesome thread and your mom is super cool!

Good luck man! Just remember not to bet anything like laundry for a month or cooking dinner for a month, because if you lose then you're screwed!

I forsure will post a video of the race and as for track experience she hasnt run the camaro yet we just go it 2 summers ago but she has been to the drag strip before and got a perfect light once, and she tells me shes been practicing shifting fast on backroads LOL i still think its funny im racing my mom

I ran a 12.89 @ 110 in my stock 2000 Z28 at Epping, that car made 322 on the dyno (yes, for those that don't know they lied about the HP).

If you think your taking a 2011 Z28 which has 100HP more than my old 2000 did well you better hope the Camaro driver forgets to release the parking break. I currently own a 95 & 97 GSX so I'm not some V8 fan boy just talking trash.

there's no such thing as 2011 z28

Screw the actual times I still cant get over the fact that you and your mom are racing LOL that's both weird and cool at the same time:p. Overall please get those videos when you guys race.

I know he was asking about Camaro's, but I was at the local 1/8mi down here in Southern IL, and there was a new 5.0 mustang here, and it made me very sad. It was an auto, and running 7.70's at 95ish mph. It was on street radials too. It looked pretty stock other than a few minor bolt ons. I'd expect the Camaro to not be too much off that.

I really hope that isn't the norm....

That seems like a really good 1/8 time especially trap for being stock considered they usually trap 110-112ish in the 1/4 stock. I would think it would gain more than 15mph on the back half...

I forgot to mention, that it was a BOSS model, but still. I was not thrilled that it was running similar times to me on street tires. Moral of the story is, I guess, new cars haul ass, and I don't think t25 2g is gonna get it done unless there is gross driver error.

I know for a fact im a better driver than my mom im beating the crap out of my gsx everyday all day ripping gears and launching so im not worried about my time i should be pretty consistent, i mean last year i was always within 14.4 14.7. I think my mom isnt going to have that good of a launch but once that big beast gets moving its gonna be coming for me hard LOL

Yeah...Your gonna trap about 14.5@95, and she's gonna trap 14.0@110 on a bad pass.

You'll get the jump on her, with the traction advantage, but she'll go by you like your sitting still at the 1000' ft mark.

Ok so today i snuck the camaro out when my parents werent home... SHHHHH!! dont tell anyone or ill be dead LOL but anyways i got on it and i definately was no impressed by the slightest bit, in all honesty it really didnt feel faster than my gsx on 13 psi with a t25 im sure the higher gears i went in it would feel quicker, but really dont think that its gonna beat me that bad if at all with her driving it i thought that 400 hp would pull alot harder than it did..

BTW the track opens up in 2 weeks i believe, and im not sure if my mom will have the car out the first week, but ill be sure to post the results of what the gsx runs

Good luck with the upcoming race soon. The tracks here in MI opened up 2 weeks ago already. Definitely waiting on the results.

Most of the newer cars don't feel as fast as they really are......

2010 Chevrolet Camaro (V8): 0-60 mph: 4.7
Quarter mile: 13.1

That, of course, is with a pro driver.... but from what I've seen at the track with these cars; high 13's are pretty common from the everyday driver.

On a T25...... well you'll need some luck. The best I could do with a T25 AWD was 14.4.

I drove a new SS on a test course put on by Chevy at the Coronado Island Vintage auto races. I was not impressed at all. I guess once you drive an AWD DSM there isn't many normal sports cars that can compare. On a side note the speed is displayed on the windshield and the Chevy rep with me kept yelling at me cause I was going over the speed he said not to go over. haha what a dumb arss, do you really think i'm not gonna floor the shit out of the car!!!

Yea, i've taken a test drive in a Camaro SS (with the corvette V8) and was not impressed either, especially considering their stock numbers are supposedly so high. My 16g DSM with only running 15-16 psi atm feels faster.

If i were you i would try to turn up the boost a little bit on that t25, it might help a bit.
