Not tryin to be a ass here 1029TSG but i see alot of fluctuation between vendors on the value of lbs min to hp. Just tryin to figure it all out. ;)

since when does 49lbs min equal 500 whp? Looks like 500 at the crank if you rounding it off. Doesn't every lbs stand for 10 hp at the crank? the t25 flows 27 lbs but i dont see any one with 300 hp to the wheels.

In theory, you are correct. That equation is used to estimate a turbos potential, but in the real world you will likely see higher HP numbers. There are so many other factors that dictate overall HP, i.e. engine mods and tuning.

No, not at all. In fact, we couldn't agree with you more. This is the reason we just recently launched www.turbochallenge.com. We want real world data from our customers, along with proof, so that our potential customers can see for themselves what our product is capable of.

i've always gone with 11HP/lbs./minute. So the t-25 at 27 lbs/min is the same as 27 x 11= 297. whether it's at the wheels is not clear to me. mark

I just got the EVO a month ago and if I could sell it for $500. I would get a 50 trim. I also had buschur port it. I am new to DSM's and the EVO is great but I do feel i could go with the 50. the 50 will spool quite a bit slower as the ported EVO is probably quicker than the 14B. Larger injectors would be a must now. that 50 trim would not like 450's! Good luck and let us know how your choiceturns out! Mark

What's mods to u have?

Well I found a buyer for the evo 16G! I ended up with a TO4E and it spools as fast as he evo!!?? Amazing! The 550cc injectors are not enough and I am looking at 720cc inj's.
A FMIC will be a must. A 3" exhaust will be on the list.
550's and 2.5" ss mandrel will have to go.
Any other mods suggested for the 50 trim are appreciated! Thanks, Mark

Also consider a 255 pump with an adjustable pressure regulator. Im sure you will want to fine tune fp with those injectors.

How did that actuator work out for you? Did you get it set up?

Actuator worked fine. I did cut a smal notch just to be safe but it holds boost OK. Thanks.
I have a 255 new in my bedroom but the way my car runs I think someone put a 190 in it at least. i'll see what happens with the 720's. Mark

Damn, I really want to put mine on already. Errrrr. I am doing this the anal way. Just waiting for all the parts to do it all at once.

I have the clutch on the car. I still have 200 more break in miles. And well, I just need a FPR. I am ordering that today. So I am hoping I can have it running at 15-17lbs this weekend.

All thats left is injectors and fuel management.

How did this go? Could this turbo just be bolted on, and not have to worry about tuning too much? All supporting mods besides tuning (temporarily of course).

Im also interested in more info on the Garrett T04B V-trim. If it is a direct bolt on to the 2g (minus j-pipe) i am going to cry. I recently bought a BigT-28 for 450 used and this looks like a sweet turbo for a great deal. I went with a BigT-28 because it was my first turbo install and a simple direct replacement of my t-2small.

Well it is a direct bolt on to any 90-99 DSM and you dont even need a J-pipe, just a $19 silicon or aluminum 90 degree elbow.

First question, anyone want to donate money to the "buy Kevin a TO4B" fund?

Too bad Kevin. I've been waiting for a needy gy who wanted the TO4E! I figure $20. per man and with 30-35 guys you have a turbo. We coul do it with a giant pyramid and each time ebuy a turbo guys would move toward the top, Once at the pinacle as you would be the cost to move off the pyramid would be $100. might nee some fine tuning.....LOL!!

Will anyone ever have dyno figures for this t3/04b turbo realistically?

I need to get a t3/04 and am considering this one because of the slightly smaller compressor that will fit easier, but i want to see what it can do first

For real I am seriously thinking about this turbo and would like to know what it can do!

- 1029TSG -

I was the creator of this thread. I am ready to order my turbo in the next week to week and a half. I understand I will also need both the ss oil feed line, and also the drain line. Is there any discount on shipping for dsmtuners members? Just curious. I definatly am going to order this turbo, I will be able to send a money order, Correct?

My mods have changed since the first time I made this, These should support this turbo correct? I just do not want to get this turbo if it is over kill for my setup.

Act 2600 clutch.
Tubular header.
2 1/2 " turbo back exhaust.
255 walbro fuel pump.
680cc injectors.
3" gm mafs w. Maft translator.
datalogger w. mmcd software.
Greddy type s bov.
2 1'2" intercooler piping
Front mount intercooler.
boost, airfuel ratio, oil pressure gauges.
joe p. Mbc
taylor 8mm wires.
2 1/2 " o2 housing.
arp headstuds.
always 94 or 100 octane gasoline.
Do you think this is enough to support this turbo? I do not want to break my bottom end or anything. If you can get back to me on my questions, That would be great. If this turbo is guarnteed to be good for my setup, I will be definatly getting the interally gated t04b with the oil feed/drain lines.

Thanks again!

I would have gotten the 3" exhaust if I would have known I was getting all of this stuff done. I ordered the exhaust awhile ago from rnr racing and it took almost 3 months to get shipped.
