ok, so been wokring on getting my 16g installed on my 2g. Had the ss oil feed line, but upon starting we saw leaks around the male to male fitting that goes to the top of the turbo and to the line. the car ran fine and blew no smoke, but i wanted to fix the leak b4 tuning. So,for the time being i switched to a 1g feed from the head. Now there's no leak but im BLOWINGG smoke from the exhaust. Looks white-ish but not sure..coolant,turbo, oil?? someone help me out.

Probably bad seal and now that you fixed leak it is leaking into the exhaust. Do you know how much oil pressure you are sending to the turbo? Too much causes this as well. Do you smell burning oil?

Unrestricted oil fittings to the turbo will cause too much oil pressure...switch to a setup that will use the OEM banjo bolt in the turbo, that way the pressure will be regulated.

hey just wondering if you did what tsi said and if it worked. im confuseed on the oil line thing.

..all fixed for now. but there is still some smoke present, which is most likely just burning off some leftover oil. but couldn't the kinked return line caused some serious damage to the turbo?

If left alone for quite a while, yes....if caught right away and repaired, there should not be any long-term issues.

The turbine seal is basically a piston ring that doesn't turn....the turbine shaft turns within the seal. If the oil cannot drain, the incoming oil pressure will force it's way between the turbine seal and the housing, where it's NEVER supposed to go. If you drive the car like this too much the oil will burn and stick to the seal, causing gaps which does not allow the seal to not fit tightly against the housing as it once did. This would require a rebuild to replace the seal.

Remember- a few drops of oil on a manifold from a leaky valve cover can make a shitload of smoke....so imagine how long it may take for oil that was dumped into the exhaust system to fully burn out to the point where it doesn't smoke anymore.
