i have a tsi and is looking to uprgade.
my mods
3 inch catback
dejon upic
1g bov recirc
dejon intake.

i just baught baught pte 550s and a 14b. and a spare o2 housing and mani.
i have plans to port the mani and o2 and the turbo. i also have a 190 fuel pump and a aftermarket fuel rail.

so just to get this straight i now have
3 inch catback
upic
1g bov recir
intake
550s
ported mani turbo and o2
14b
190 fuel pump and fuel rail.

i was told i dont NEED a fmic unless i have 400hp. how much you think i can push to the wheels with this. i tried to search but cant find close to my setup.
is there anyway to tune my car without dsmlink. i have a eprom. what is your opinion with this setup. everything was a good deal to pass up. ### dont flame. i dont have much money. if anyone has a banjo bolt and jpipe ### let me know.

You don't NEED dsmlink to tune with; its just highly recommended since it is the best bang for the buck especially if you already have the EPROM ecu. They do make a v3 lite option that, I believe, is around the price you;d spend on a SAFC. I'd look into that.

Trust me... you'll be glad you did in the long run!!

As far as the other things go... looks like you are on the right track. The fuel rail was not really needed at this level. But if you got it, minds well use it i guess. Or sell it to fund something else. The 190 pump will do you fine with a 14b, as well.

The 3" exhaust will probably give you some boost creep issues; but since you are going to port the o2 housing and the turbo, that should help out with that.

FMIC.. honestly this can get tricky. I do believe that with a 14b and your current setup, the SMIC will be ok for you. However, if you are like the rest of us.. The itch to see more than 20psi will hit you... and then I'd suggest getting one. Nothing ginormous, as that will end up hurting you; but a nice "street" kit will work just fine. Remember, that turbo had to be able to push that air through the intercooler! If its too big, you can actually lose power. As far as intercoolers go, I don't think its a HP issue as much as it is an efficiency issue. I have one with my 16g, as as found out drag racing it that the SMIC was getting heat soaked pretty darn fast.

You will need a FMIC before you will need an aftermarket fuel rail.

With 550 injectors you could use a SAFC to compensate for them. That would be the cheapest. However if you have plans to go bigger in the future, v3lite is a great option.

If you want to guess your possible horsepower output (i.e. bench racing), visit this thread: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/hangout/382800-official-bench-racing-thread-how-fast-my-car-how-much-hp-can-i-expect.html or compare similiar setups on the dyno challenge: DSM Dyno Challenge - Highest Horsepower

You could easily tune that with an safc just understand that with link you will pick up a substantial amount of power vs using the afc. Its hands down the best upgrade to start with bc you then get the most out of your future upgrades. As far as the fmic goes they can be had so cheap now you might as well get it. Check punishment racing or vr speed factory.

You may as well look into the VRSF FMIC. Who ever said you had to wait until 400 hp is full of crap. The stock side mount WILL heat soak once you start upping the boost which you will be doing. The stock fuel rail is able to support 700+HP so unless you want some bling, sell the rail for money towards ECMLink v3

If you haven't done so already, do all of your maintenance before you start doing performance. That includes full fluid change and a full timing job. Word of advice, if you do not know when it was last done by either you personally seeing it done or seeing the paperwork, assume it was never done.

$300 now for a timing change (belts, pulleys, tensioner, water pump) is cheaper than $800+ for a head rebuild.

Not to mention, if you did infact use a SAFC you will also need to get yourself a logger. ECMLink has a logger incorporated.

thx for the replies. if i dont NEED link how would i tune. i am a noob. btw i did a full fluid and change all belts. as far as the fmic, can i get a ebay core. i was told a cores a core as far as that goes. i baught a upic flanged for a 1g and i have the bottom pipe was already hard when i baught it. i really dont want to replace those. so could i get a core and do they make a pipe that lets me keep my pipes but use the fmic core. does anyone have diagrams for intercoolers. . if anyone has a jpipe, banjo bolt, safc. pm me

The VRSF kit is $300 or so. It's a full short route kit and can be flanged for any BOV you want to run. A core is not a core and it's as simple as that. There are some good cheap brands out there and there are terrible cheap brands.

Get the vrsf fmic. Cheapo ebay cores are worthless and ugly. If you can afford link lite then do it or full if you can. Otherwise an safc and some reading should suit you.

If you have hard pipes routed for a side mount intercooler, you're going to need new pipes when yo uget a fmic... If you want to, try going the Supra side mount route. You'll need a wideband, a datalogger, and an SAFC to tune your car properly. Or a wideband and link. To find out if your ECU is eprom, take it out and open it up. Or there is an "E" on the casing. The ECU is located behind the radio. As everyone said, the fuel rail is not needed.

so they dont make pipeing for my situation. i definitly have a eprom. so i can use safc in place of dsmlink. im currently looking for a datalogger. and not to be a total noobie but what is a wide band used for.

as far as the next step, it would be to find a way to tune (link, or safc)?
i can tune that and when power starts getting big then upgrade to a fmic.
so since i do have a eprom, this would set me up for link. i would have to get it socketed and chiped. would it be cheaper and easier to get a safc or socketed and chiped since my ecu is eprom

Definitely get link, I just got it not too long ago and I love it!

As for a FMIC core that you can use the same piping with; if I'm not mistaking Greddy offers and long route FMIC kit, so you would be able to use your current pipes, but it's not really the best choice. Get a short route then sell your UICP.
