super charger kit on ebay?

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

While searching for more product information on the kit I came across this thread on google LOL. This is my auction, I originally bought the kit for the same two reasons you mentioned:

1 - I autocross the car, so lag = bad, and I don't need 600hp in a parking lot anyway.

2 - There are no supercharged 4 cylinder avengers, and in your case I don't believe there are any eclipses either (I've seen a talon, thats it.)

Anyway, I figured it would go well with my Crower 3 cams, but the engine is nowhere near done and I need money.

Only problem I see is there is no adapter to hook up a tb:confused: You still need to have a tb and a intake stream of air to supercharge.

You can't judge by that picture considering that its a 3.8 supercharged out of a gran prix/monte ss.
You can easily see the front valve cover and that is definately the valve cover from the 3.8. Also the 3 coils should be a dead giveaway that you are looking at a 6 cylinder engine.

*edit* nevermind i see your just comparing the actual supercharger. I'm not sure if it would work or not those adapters on the ebay shit look pretty flimsy to me

Uh I think the guy above me should edit more of his post...

Anyway this supercharging idea seems pretty good quick throttle response and similar horsepower gains seem worth it alone in my opinion.

Have you researched supercharger sizes for 4 cyl motors, or are you just going by the title of the auction?

I don't know anything about superchargers, but it is just a thought. That S/C came off a 3.8L 6 cyl motor which is almost twice the size of our motor. Its going to take a bit of power to spin that thing so you may not get the lightning response you are looking for. Although a pulley change might fix that I don't know.

Again just a thought

It's not like a turbocharger the size of the engine isn't the factor it's the pulley size like you briefly stated. Superchargers aren't standard but they aren't as vast as turbos where you have like a bazillion options. This would have NA like response ALMOST and make about as much power as a stage 2 turbo kit. Nothing earth shattering but def different and def have more torque which may actually be a bad thing if you can't get traction with bolt ons.

Turbo and Supercharger Maps
If I remember right, it's a M90, so you can find the maps there. Also if I remember right, the setup they came off of are very restrictive, even though it's a 3.8. My friend was telling me that just adding a set of headers and 2.5" duals to the 3.8 the boost drops 4psi and hp goes up 20 or 30. With the DOHC head and a good set of headers (well, "a good header" it's hard to break that habit!) the 2.0 should be happy with it. Isn't that the SC the dualcharged guy on here used in his 4G63?

Any thoughts on how to keep the charge cool? Meth injection is about the only route if it's bolted to the runners.

Crank pulley looks MIA. Sounds sweet though, that's a good price too, you couldn't go turbo for that much.

thats a sweet kit man. i was actually looking for somthing like this last summer for my 97gs. i eventually said screw it and picked up the 2g awd turbo and never looked back.

ide like to know how it will works.
you will kneed to get
..
if theres anything i left out please copy my post then add underneith.
this should be a realy cool project....... good luck man:thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb:
fuel pressure regulator.
fuel pressure gage.
colder plugs to deel with the dramatically raised compression durring boost.
air fuel meter.
a wideband kit.
air/fuel controler.
gm mass

The adapter plates definately are not flimsy, they are 1/2" thick. You shouldn't need a new crank pulley, just a longer alternator belt.

a logger of some type.

Correct, the is no lag with superchargers but in the only purpose you're going to using this for is autocross it really doesn't matter about the lag. I mean once you know when spools occurs with turbo you can accomodate the gear shifting so there's no lag launch from a turn.

Not a 4g63 car.. so he doesn't need that.
