Well I drove my talon all last weekend, and it ran good the whole time. Today I went to start it up and move it into the shop (after a week) to replace the knock sensor, change the oil (It's a new motor with 50-60 miles) and it ran fine the first few times, but now It's acting goofy. It always started hard, and it always wanted to stall out at idle cause of the cams, but it was fine when it was warmed up. Now today after sitting for a week It started really hard, and it wouldn't idle. Now after I started it 2-3 times it started to sound like a subaru and still wouldn't Idle. After it sat for awhile it started normal and ran absulutely fantastic, but then.... it stalled out and it was back to the subaru sound. It sat for awhile again, started fine, ran great, then... it died and went back to the subaru so in a nutshell

Car usually wont idle but does sometime

Car sometimes runs great, then dies out and sounds like a subaru afterwards

Car shakes bad when running in subau form. (will backfire a bit if driven hard)

Car sits for awhile, and goes back to running great until it dies and goes Suby.

Coolant temp is normal

Oil pressure is normal

Car boosts fine at all times.

Anyone heard of this.

Are your spark plug wires in the right order? This will cause exactly what you're saying. If they are in the right order, make sure they're all plugged in tightly. What you hear is the car only running on 3 cylinders (or less).

Make sure all the fuel injectors are plugged in and in correct order. I had one come off while driving, still ran but ran like shit. sounded like a soobie though. Also check and make sure the injectors aren't clogged. Hope this helps

It sounds to me that this goes past spark plug wires or just the basics, previously being a technician Subaru for 3 years that is a distinctive sound, it definitely sounds like your dragging a piston, obviously being intermittent, need to isolate whether it is fuel dropping, spark dropping; burnt valve, possible worn rings, if the motor has been rebuilt, the rings may not be installed correctly with the gaps too close(a hard start would build compression as the motor turns over and over), I believe that if you focus on the symptoms of what causes a dragging piston you will isolate that sooner than later..if you have a u pull it junk yard near by..think about trying a different coil pack also

Messed with the car today, Cylinder 1 wasn't firing pulled the spark plug, it looked fine, but I replaced it anyway since it was cheap. Replacing the plug did nothing so I checked compression and It had compression, so I checked the injectors. I used a noid lite set, and the injector was getting signal, but I had extra injectors around so I thought well... maybe it was plugged or something. I replaced the injector, and it got rid of the suby sound. Car still wouldn't idle so I adjusted the throttle stop part for now until I can find out whats up with that.
