Strut/Spring Install Questions

I am about to do a Eibach Pro-Kit and Tokico Illumina install and I had a few questions. Am I going to need anything else for this install besides the springs and the sruts? Can I use the exisiting upper strut mount? I heard something about needing different bumpstops?

Are the struts and springs identical when going left to right and visa versa (I know backs and fronts are different)?

yes you can use the exisiting upper strut mount. there is no left and right. you just have to trim your exisiting bump stops

Any idea how much I have to trim them for Eibach Pro-Kits?

Make sure your strut mounts are in good shape. I had one of mine give out due to rust and the strut nearly went through the trunk.

Your missing the most important thing, a reliable spring compressor.

It never hurts to shine up a few things and paint them while your there. Your existing strut mount would be a good thing to clean up a repaint if not already rusted away.

Many have gotten away with not cutting the bump stops at all, some cut half, some cut 1/4. I have tried all sorts of ways and cutting it about 1/4 to 1/3 of the way seems best. As per tokico / eibach / etc, they should have their own instructions.

Spring compressor just to be safe. You can rent them from Pep Boys/Autozone if you don't feel like buying them.

And you will probably need new rubber grommets that the spring pushes on, which goes between the actual spring and the top mount of the assembly. I have a 99 and they were rotten to crap when I did my suspension.

Not sure, but I ordered mine seperately from the dealership. They're only a few bucks.
