Strange Idle

To make things short, my car idles fine while in gear (D, 1, 2), but Idles around 2k rpm when in Neutral or park. I've tried the idle screw, but maybe I'm just doing it wrong. It does, however, idle correctly when I first start it, but then put it in drive and then in park again, it won't idle down. Any ideas?

Check for vacuum leaks, cracked vacuum hoses. Brake cleaner or an unlit propane torch can sometimes be used to find such leaks. If you don't know how to do this please research it or take it to someone experienced.

It's very difficult to adjust the idle on a 2g without something to monitor the idle settings like DSMLink but I got the idle on my 2g steady through trial and error. I had fixed a bunch of intake leaks and then my idle was behaving as you describe, ~2k rpm in neutral. I counted the number of turns the BISS screw was turned out so I had my starting position to go back to if I got way off track. Then I adjusted the BISS screw 1/2 turn at a time and let the idle settle for at least five minutes. Turn in for slower rpm, turn out for faster. You have to give the ISC time to settle into the new setting. Turning the car off and back on occasionally during this process seemed to help. The BISS screw was 3/4 turn out when my idle was at a steady 750 rpm all the time.

After I got DSMLink I used it to check my idle settings and found them to be far less than optimum, but it was good enough for me at the time.
