Hi,

I wasn't sure were to post this, so I figured this forum would be a good location. Is it bad to store/keep a cylinder head like this for an extended amount of time? Im worried about putting high stress on the camshaft and camshaft towers from the way I have it on the floor. I didn't want to put it on the floor, sealing face down, due to my fear of badly scratching the mating surface. What do you guys think?

Thanks,
Bill

I would say if you're worried take two blocks of wood, run them parallel to each other on the ground so that when the head sits on them right-side-up it's resting on the wood, which will deform before aluminum will. That's how I keep my head when its off the car, albeit only for a few days.

LOL when I saw the first picture I asked myself, "how did you defy the laws of gravity". Anyway yeah a good spray down with WD-40 so you wont collect and rust. I was always told to spray and wrap it with saran wrap, atleast all the stuff I ever had worked on or saw worked on around here that would sit up for awhile was wrapped to prevent moisture from collecting. Maybe somebody can shed some light on that?
