First thing I'm doing to the DSM to ring in the New Year is installing a set of Evo IX Brembo brakes. Heres a quick preview of the goodies before I do the install, I'll update the build once everything's bolted up.

The list of parts...
  • Evo IX Brembo calipers (front & rear)
  • Evo IX CD/S rotors from RotorPro (black hub)
  • Evo IX Hawk brake pads
  • Evo IX brake master cylinder
  • kmv custom Brembo caliper adapters

Well, I got one front knuckle modify to accept the brackets and Evo Brembo caliper. It was a PITA to get it to clock upward but well worth it!

Here are pictures of the before (GSX brakes) and the after (Evo brakes) and I hope you ENJOY! :D The transmission is out of the car so this is as close to "on its wheels" as it can get right now...

Since my car is a GS-T I've got the smaller brake master cylinder, that being said I'm worried I'm not going to notice much of a difference even after the Brembo brakes are installed. :coy:

I'll be taking LOTS of pictures during and after the install since I plan on doing a detailed write-up on it.

I took some rough measurements the other day and it looks like an evo master cylinder may bolt into a 2g. A custom brake line would be needed.

How much did you pick the brakes up for? I think you'll be very happy with it

The brackets were $110 shipped from kmv and I can swap to the GSX master cylinder and it might be added to the to-do list if I don't think the brake upgrade did anything.

Do it like mine and point them up. Looks so mmuch better.
I'm going to figure out how to do it both ways and take pictures of both. Every thread I've read on here has limited information and poor pictures of the install, I'm going to fix that. After I get the fronts installed and pictures of the calipers angled both ways I'll put it the way I like it. Right now I was thinking of leaving it angled down but I guess we'll see once its on the car.

I bought them 2 years ago for $350 from a local Evo buddy and then tossed them in the closet. I put these on the back burner because I was trying to GO FAST first.

What are all of the things you need to make them work? No fabbing or anything i would guess? I've never done anything to upgrade the brakes before but would be interested in this once if find another DSM

A die grinder and some carbide bits to knock out a section on the Brembo caliper and smooth the ears on stock 2g knuckle as well. They aren't a direct bolt-on and go, or stop rather, but its a lot easier on the checking account than a set of Wilwoods.

Still waiting on my rotors!

I'll hold on to the other stuff a while so you don't have to look at it while waiting for your rotors :D
ROFL You can't hold onto the Brembos but I've got a big storage area in my garage thats full parts I'll let you hold onto until I need them. I've had the Brembos, pads, and brackets for nearly two years I just recently decided it was time to order rotors and do the install.

:dsm:

I picked up the Evo brake master cylinder yesterday and should have it at my doorstep Friday, as well as the rotors. I wonder if we can't knock this small project out over the weekend, you've got that MONSTER air compressor now.

So what's the word on the beast?? Did you finally get your rotors in??
IM AT WORK AND THE CAME IN TODAY! I had $1500 worth of parts I've ordered over the last month all from different vendors, somehow all the delivery dates landed on the 28th! I can't wait to go home... OMG

Cant wait to see the pics! I've been debating to use KMV's brackets or the jdm galant knuckles. I don't really like the angled look that KMV's brackets give them.

I can agree, I'm not a fan of the canted look of the brake caliper either but I'm looking for a bigger brake setup without breaking the bank. Those brackets cost me about $500 less than JDM Galant knuckles to put towards something else. :coy:
