Hey guys how is it going. I have looked around, searched and I need an answer to this. I recently installed a megasquirt into my car, it runs great and all is good. The thing that sucks ough and I cannot find any information on this is, I made my own custom harness so the stock ecu and harness are totally gone. I need to figure out how to make my stock tach work. I have the white wire coming off the power transistor but I do not know which wire that it hooks into under the dash to make the tach work

If anyone has had this problem or knows what wire I need to find please let me know ASAP this is the only thing I have left to figure out before the car is ready to go on my new megasquirt.

Thank you for any replies

I've done a lot of stand alone installs, but am not reall familiar with megasquirt. The easisest way and most reliable that i've found is to get an MSD tach adapter (8912 IIRC) and hook it to the crank trigger signal from the CAS, then just snip the tach wire at the stock ECU harness and hook it to the output of the tach adapter.

This is the most accurate and easiest way i found as i stated.. I've seen it done several ways but it usually ends up with the person sometimes losing the tach for a second or at a certain RPM, this way works every time flawlessly.

I can even tell you the wire colors if needed, but it sounds like you're smart enough to get that one figured out if you can install a megasquirt.

I installed megasquirt with an adapter to the stock harness and my in dash tach nor any of its wiring were ever touched. It still works fine. Not sure why you would have trouble with the tach now unless you changed the wiring to the ignitor module or coils.

the problem is i made my own harness for the megasquirt i totally removed the stock ecu harness from the car so i am going to try to do the MSD adapter like stated above and see if that works.....thanks guys
