I have a couple of questions about megasquirt. For 1 is it hard to figure out? 2 is it dangerous? like can you detonate your engine? 3 does it tune itself? 4 do you need it to run turbo in a 420a eclipse? and last can you raise the shifts on an automatic with megasquirt?

I can tell you right now you're getting way over your head but i'll bite.

1. If you can dedicate yourself to tuning it's not too bad. But it's no where as user friendly as dsmlink is for us 4g63 owners.

2. If you tune your car improperly, then yes, you can detonate. I would buy the setup and then take it to a professional shop to tune for you.

3. No, pay someone to do it because I doubt you're capable of it.

4. Raise your shifts? You mean how you can rev? No, that's your valve train. If you build your head that will be the only way to rev higher.

You need a way to tune when you turbo because the stock ECU cannot compensate for the newly added mods. Again, by your questions, and your spelling, I highly recommend you don't go through with this; because the work involved.

If you do want to turbo your NT, for god knows why, then yes, you need megasquirt to do it properly.

My regards, I meant your grammar (primarily sentence structure). Look into how difficult it is to turbo a NT, you'll read more, because if you even used that fancy google search you would have found everything I posted in seconds, and you'll realize it's a whole lot of work for no real gain.

If you want to boost your car, then megasquirt is a good way to tune it, but based on how you asked your questions, I know you have no idea what you're getting into. You're better off selling your NT and buying a GSX.

And i'm saying all of this from experience. I had a 2g Nt as my first car. Loved it and wanted boost. However, after looking into how much work it is to do, and how little power a 420a, your NT motor, can handle, there's no point.

Diyautotune does sell a MS board(can't remember the name of it) that can control a transmission, thats what its made for, BUT to my knowledge I'm not aware of anyone thas used it on the 420a platform. So IF you did use it you would be one of the first. As far as NEEDING MS, you can buy the Hahn set up, its on sale right now on their website for 1999.99 and comes with everything you need, or you can take it a step farther into their "packages" and buy Portfuler. All that is is a extra injector controller that has another set of injectors that come on when the map sensor on the PF unit see's positive pressure. People have been very successfull with this but it is limited by itself to around 15 psi because it does nothing for controlling your ignition timing. That is why MS is so nice, its an all in one type set up, it just requires knowledge on how to install, troubleshoot, and tune it.

EDIT: Just for future people that may be searching for this, here is the link to "Megashift"

Raising shift points, as in with an a/t transmission. It's electronically controlled.
