my 97 spyder has a stock alarm system. It came with a key fob. When I set the alarm, a green light on the dash lights up for about 30 seconds and then goes out and doesn't blink. My question is, when I lock the doors or unlock them, nothing flashes. The headlights or turn signals do not blink. Are they supposed to?

I don't believe the lights flash. The green light is all that comes up. At least thats how mine is.

It's not super sensitive but mine would sometimes go off if I didn't unlucky the car before I opened the trunk/hatch with the key. It's weird cause not it doesn't do it. Kinda fixed itself. But it will go off if someone is tampering with it as mine has.

My 98 GST has the factory alarm as well, only thing that will light up was the security light on the dash after I locked it with my fob or with my key from the outside. A good way to test it would be to roll down your driver's side window, lock the door using the switch on the door and shut it. Reach inside and open the door with the interior handle and the alarm should go off.

Hmm, I guess the lights are not supposed to flash then. Can you tell me if your security light goes out after about 30 seconds? Mine does. Kinda weird, you think it would stay lit or atleast blink to warn people there is an alarm

Yes, security light goes out after a few seconds. I thinks it's more like 10 seconds. Your factory alarm sounds like it's behaving normal.

Factory alarm in my car as well have the two map lights on the rear view mirror flash a couple times when I lock the car with the remote ( if you stand close to your car and arm it you can also hear the locks move twice in a bout a 1 second in between lock sequences with the map lights). Green security light stays on solid for 20 or so seconds and then turns off.

Thanks guys just wanted to make sure its opperating properly. Do you know if the alarm is going off if you can still start it with a key or does it shut the ignition off

You can test the alarm (if you want) by rolling your driver side window down (or keeping your top down if you're convertible) and then activating the alarm with the key fob (or using the key externally locking the door turning it CCW). Once it activates (green light on the dash) reach in through the open window and open the door using the handle on the inside and the alarm should activate (horn honks, lights flash, etc.) but IIRC, the car will still start even with the alarm going off.
