:ohdamn: My head hurts. Im working with a lot of numbers right now, rebuilding my engine, and slightly depressed about not being able to drive my dsm during the summer. So if this thread has to be moved to the FAQ section....my bad.

Ok I need sugestions on tires. I know that tire selection depends on preferences. So I will do my best to describe what im looking for. I just want tires that grip and hold the road. I just want them for the winter and I dont plan on driving in any snow maybe a little rain. I had some Michelin MXV4's on my RSX and I liked them. Now im looking for something else.

Info that may be needed: FWD, Megan lowering springs, KYB AGX struts, and looking to make a bit of power so i expect traction to be crap. Stock Eagle Talon wheels are 205/55/16 correct me if im wrong. Please dont post any hankook tires I refuse ! I also want to know if I can go a little bit wider and if I can is there any gain ? As far as alignment angles go I cant help with that info I dont know the specs so im just going to align as best I can with the tires. Its just a street car.

Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 I plan on using these goodyears in the spring.

I like those tires for summer..But not winter..There is not enough meat on them to grip in the snow..But if you do not plan on driving in the snow, it's not a bad tire..

I heard these goodyears do good with rain, but last year (nov. 4th to be exact) I had real bad luck in the RSX on summer tires. So now I get real nervous in the winter and rain. So I want 2 sets winter/summer.

A good reasonable tire is the Hankook V-12 EVO.Ive used them all summer.Traction is really good.Dont think they are good in the snow.I'm still looking for a good low profile snow/sport tire(if there is such a thing).

I really like nitto neo gens. They are a good all season tire, and are good in the snow on my awd. Compared to my bfg's. I picked up .5 second in the 1/8 by switching on my 3g gt.

I am also on the stock FWD wheels with stock width (205) tires. What sucks is if you go with a 225 tire there is a lot of flex in the sidewall. This is bad for handling but is supposed to help with straight line acceleration. You can choose a tire with a stiffer sidewall to reduce the flex but then you lose some straight line grip (I don't know if it makes a noticeable difference it, it's what I've read). Overall, everything I've read says that a 225 width tire on a 6" wheel is not a good idea for a street car.

Tire Rack has an extensive amount of customer survey responses for each tire as well as their own test results/reviews.

I had the GSD3 a few years ago.
Worst tire I ever had on my car!
It was gripping very good when it was brand new. After a few miles it was gripping like every other (way cheaper) tire.
After using it about 15k miles (on a non turbo car) it was a terrible tire to drive in wet conditions.
I trashed the tires before reaching the legal tread limit (1.6mm here in germany).

I will never buy this tires again.

Thanks for the info.

Have you compared those Goodyears to the Star Specs?

For the all season, just go with whatever is cheap and rated good for your conditions if you don't plan on running them much.

Best advice. Trying to find a grippy/ performance all-season tire is pointless. You buy tires for winter and you buy tires for summer... I don't understand this all-season you speak of? :)
