I am going to Afghanistan and while I am saving all this money I am going to start stockpiling parts. Looking to see if I am missing anything major and seeing what you guys think of my selections so far. I am looking for a street-able 11-12 sec car. I don't want to push any parts to their limits so I am trying to go bigger on everything to make sure I have some spare room (or if I want to go faster on track day)
1997 Eclipse GSX Automatic 133k miles
What I have done so far:
95 Eprom socketed already (wont run in the car so using stock ecu for now)
oil service
new sunroof (old one didnt open)
front and rear diff service
tcase service
trans drain and fill with new filter
3" turbo back with high flow cat
a/f ratio, oil press, boost gauges
pillar 3 gauge cluster
FMIC with hardpipes
greddy type rs BOV (recirc)
what I am planning:
boost leak test and fix leaks (today after work)
rc 660
walboro 255
dsm link
hrc super 20 kit
BC 280 cams
NX 50 shot wet kit
Jacks 2.3 stroker
Before you start flaming let me add:
Yes I know its an automatic, I know its going to be sluggish of the line and my 60' times might be horrid - that's why I am adding the 50 shot to get into the turbo and off the line faster. Once the Turbo spools I will not be on the nitrous at all, and it will be used at the track only.
I haven't done the belts only because I plan on having the 2.3 and that should come with them new, i.e. Timing and balance shaft.
My questions:
Wondering if I need an AFPR with DSMlink or does DSMlink allow the same tuning?
What kind of internals should I ask for on the 2.3 stroker? I know Jacks knows their stuff but should I just let them build the motor or ask for a specific build?
Once I get DSMlink should I be able to tune the eprom to get the car to start? Right now it just backfires the entire time I am cranking it over, or is there something wrong with this eprom. Guy I bought from said it might be because the car it came off had major upgrades and its possible the car "learned" to run a certain way because of the upgrades. It has the stock mits chip in it so I know it cant be flashed but I just don't understand why it wont let my car run. Jacks did the socket for me and tested the caps. Didnt say anything looked out of sorts on the ecu.
Lastly, any suggestions or things I have forgotten for this build. I have been looking at a lot of information lately and my brain is fried with DSM basic knowledge so I am looking for an outsiders perspective.
Please don't tell me that I should do "this turbo instead" without the reasoning behind it. I should have about 8k when all is said and done and that is what I am working with. I am assuming the stroker will be about 3-4k and the turbo 1-2k which worse case scenario leaves me with about 2k to do the other misc upgrades I need.
Thank you for your time
