I am going to Afghanistan and while I am saving all this money I am going to start stockpiling parts. Looking to see if I am missing anything major and seeing what you guys think of my selections so far. I am looking for a street-able 11-12 sec car. I don't want to push any parts to their limits so I am trying to go bigger on everything to make sure I have some spare room (or if I want to go faster on track day) :thumb:

1997 Eclipse GSX Automatic 133k miles

What I have done so far:
95 Eprom socketed already (wont run in the car so using stock ecu for now)
oil service
new sunroof (old one didnt open)
front and rear diff service
tcase service
trans drain and fill with new filter
3" turbo back with high flow cat
a/f ratio, oil press, boost gauges
pillar 3 gauge cluster
FMIC with hardpipes
greddy type rs BOV (recirc)

what I am planning:

boost leak test and fix leaks (today after work)
rc 660
walboro 255
dsm link
hrc super 20 kit
BC 280 cams
NX 50 shot wet kit
Jacks 2.3 stroker

Before you start flaming let me add:

Yes I know its an automatic, I know its going to be sluggish of the line and my 60' times might be horrid - that's why I am adding the 50 shot to get into the turbo and off the line faster. Once the Turbo spools I will not be on the nitrous at all, and it will be used at the track only.

I haven't done the belts only because I plan on having the 2.3 and that should come with them new, i.e. Timing and balance shaft.

My questions:

Wondering if I need an AFPR with DSMlink or does DSMlink allow the same tuning?

What kind of internals should I ask for on the 2.3 stroker? I know Jacks knows their stuff but should I just let them build the motor or ask for a specific build?

Once I get DSMlink should I be able to tune the eprom to get the car to start? Right now it just backfires the entire time I am cranking it over, or is there something wrong with this eprom. Guy I bought from said it might be because the car it came off had major upgrades and its possible the car "learned" to run a certain way because of the upgrades. It has the stock mits chip in it so I know it cant be flashed but I just don't understand why it wont let my car run. Jacks did the socket for me and tested the caps. Didnt say anything looked out of sorts on the ecu.

Lastly, any suggestions or things I have forgotten for this build. I have been looking at a lot of information lately and my brain is fried with DSM basic knowledge so I am looking for an outsiders perspective.

Please don't tell me that I should do "this turbo instead" without the reasoning behind it. I should have about 8k when all is said and done and that is what I am working with. I am assuming the stroker will be about 3-4k and the turbo 1-2k which worse case scenario leaves me with about 2k to do the other misc upgrades I need.

Thank you for your time

my suggestions:

1000cc or larger injectors
walbro 400lph (if keeping an in-tank pump)
ECMlink V3
FP3082, FP3076, FP3582
HKS 272s, or Kelford 280's
forget the spray - perhaps swap this for a sheet metal intake manifold?
2.3 Stroker - i would personally go with 9.0:1

i used an FPgreen on my 1g last fall. pulled it off to put my FP3052 back on... night and day difference. it spooled way faster, hit way harder. any of the above listed FP turbos will be awesome for your stroker. my 3052 on a stock 6 bolt, and Kelford 280's saw full boost (28psi) by 4600-4700. however, with HKS 272's, i see 28psi by 4k. same Kelford 280 cams and 3052 in a 2.3 with 9.0:1 compression opened the wastegate at higher boost (30psi) by 4000. this was on a very basic tune, extensive tuning may have lowered that number.

i constantly say to myself, "if i could do it all over..." and my setup would be much like i listed above for you. at the time, the HTA turbos weren't available. if i was to do it all over, i would most likely opt for the 3082HTA. the spool of the 3052 was beyond amazing, every one of my DSM friends loved it, 3 of which had FPgreen's on their cars (one of which bought a 3052 last summer post hell ride) and the general consensus was that it was beyond a killer street turbo.

once you get a 2.3 with an FP30 series turbo, you will forget about nitrous. the spool is awesome, and the powerband is great. 4-8k of solid pull :thumb:

the AFPR is a necessary upgrade, id suggest using an Aeromotive kit. also, with a 2.3, and a 30r of sorts, you should be able to get into boost at the line with the stall. im not that familiar with auto DSM's but i think something that spools that quickly, coupled with an engine that will usually take an average of 500 RPM's off spool time, should make some decent boost at the line.

I suggest you read more and search as well. I've seen to0o0o many of these threads asking similar questions.

From what I read, you want us to tell you what to do & post additional info/compressor maps/facts to back up "our" opinion?

I'll do this instead, 8k is to0o much money to spend & be "sluggish" off the line.

Launch control. Torque converter. Torque mounts.

Your turbo shouldn't cost 1 to 2k. Your turbo is plentiful & I would never spend more than 700 on it.

Those injectors aren't big enough, & this is by far the smallest/basic list I have ever seen posted.

Search for kids with builds, fluids to use, and all the little things you forgot. Yes you need an AFPR because link is a computer program... not mechanical, search WHY you should have one or need one.

Tsmith take a look at these: DSM Build Journals - DSM Forums They should and will answer more of your questions and maybe even sway you into a different direction and provide more overall direct input versus ambiguous responses because you didn't quite say which way you were headed be it road, course, drag, DD, whatever. Depending on your MOS you should have quite a bit of time to read up on these things and order whatever, whenever...

Thanks for the input all. Going 1/4 mile with my car so thats where its headed. I will def do some more searching.

Definatly get bigger injectors, I would try and split the money on motor/trans, I just got a restalled convertor (3800). And a valvebody upgrade which is next on my trans. View my profile for my mod list.

You'll need an AFPR with a 255 pump. I doubt the 50 shot of nitrous will be needed to spool the turbo off the line. Autos are known for being better off the line because you can brake boost the car. 660 injectors are going to be too small. Did you swap the spark plug wires when you put in the 95 ECU?

Instead of just pouring money into it, what are your power goals and time goals for the car? Not trying to sound like a jerk, but you need to do some reading before ordering parts. I think your best bet would be to set your goals for times and power you want from your car, then go here and see what they are running...

I didnt swap the plugs. Didn't know I needed to. I guess I should search for eprom swaps thread.
