Probably one in every 3 times I go to start my car the starter will just whine no crank, then whine again, no crank, and finally fire up. Is the starter going or should I try some other things first?

Check and clean your battery terminals . They do make a spray cleaner and a non-coroding spray for after they are clean . Also may want to check where the cable connects to the starter .

I'll try that. I'm gonna give the starter a good whack too. Might have some crap in there cloggin it up.

Sounds like the solenoid is stuck. Usually if you bang on the starter and frees, you might as well replace the starter. The cost to take one out, replace the solenoid and throw it back in is just not worth it.

^ Yeah I looked thru the manual on getting the starter out. Is there an easier method than jacking the car and all that? Sucks that it's a blizzard out so I'll have to wait a bit until it warms up.

You can pull off the intake manifold and battery, and the starter is right there easy as pie to remove. Thats the easiest way I can think of to get to it. Much easier than getting to it from the bottom of the car.:thumb:

awesome. I figured there was an easier way then going up and under. Going in from the top is something I might brave the weather for.

Just as easy to remove the battery and tray . It will give plenty of space . No need to mess with the intake manifold , leave that alone .

Any ideas to get a decent starter maybe from Summit racing, or any other vendors was thinking about just getting a higher power starter.
