When I purchased my Spyder, the glass was falling into the inside, I thought I was going to have to replace the whole top but when I went to pull the glass all the way off, it seemed as if it was held on with some sort of glue, is this how they are made from the factory? The bottom part of the glass still has the Velcro lining that attaches to the inside piece of the top.

I'm just curious if all I need to do is reglue the outer piece of the glass and attach the velcro, let it dry and call it a day.

Let me know if you have any experience with this please, the top is in really great shape with no holes or tears so I'd rather not replace it if this can be re attched safely.

Ah ..... another person who wants to do this, that's great. I've researched this a fair amount, but don't yet have the whole answer. The shops will say it can't be done and you have to get an entire new top, but I think there's a way.

What I found is that the glass is attached to the fabric by some Mitsubishi-patented heat bonding process. I think it's an industrial process that most shops don't have the equipment to do. But, there are many more adhesive products and processes now than in the 90's. I think you can't just reglue the glass and attach velcro, but there are some methods I've seen around that involves specific, industrial grade glass adhesives, a heat gun, holding up the glass with pillows, and letting it cure for a day (or week).

What I'd like to find out is if there's a way to unbond the glass with some releasing agent and a heat gun. If it can detach on its own there should be a way to coax it off.

Let me know how you make out on this, or send a PM.
