I already searched. Are these available from anywhere or is it possible that someone with CAD skills could make a model of an intact clip for the community? I need to re-attach the rear triangular glass piece on my 1G and the clips are missing completely. Thank you in advance to anyone that can help.

There are four different clips. I have pretty looking models for two of them, MB479100 (and its counterpart MB479340) and MB479136. The one with the hinge, MB479268, I never did get around to finishing. MB479101 I don’t seem to have even started for whatever reason; I’ll have to make sure I have one.

Kicker is I never had any made to test so no idea if they are any good. I have a decent level of confidence, but that’s about it.

If people really need some, I can upload the files to the 3D parts thread to try these. I’ll need to spend some time to try to get the other two. No guarantees when that might happen but it beats nothing.

Clips needed, per side, for reference:
(1x) MD479136 - model available
(3x) MB479100 - model available
(4x) MB479101
(3x) MB479340 - model available
(1x) MB479268

Bobby is in development stages with these. Not sure where he is at with the overseas move.

Well aware. And that’s why I hesitate offering the models. I’m not trying to compete with him. Undoubtedly, injection molding would be leaps and bounds better than 3D printing on these.

Not trying to start anything by saying this, either, but that update post was made nearly 1.5 years ago. And people have been asking about these clips for a few years now. I’d be beyond frustrated if I was one of the people waiting for them to finally happen.

There is the whole financials side of injection molding that I’m not going to get into but I know that offering the models up would significantly undercut his efforts and could prevent him from ever bringing this product to market. I guess there’s a chance it’s not too late to save him from a sunk investment. So there’s my dilemma with the whole thing.

I know you’re aware of the situation Brian, my response was for the OP. He did reach out to me for some specifics on counts prior to his move, hence why I said I wasn’t sure where he was at with it.

It was made some time ago, yes. I had to do revisions once that post was made, so working with my tester for fitment checks took some time to get them real good. They finally got finished sometime about mid to end of 2024

As for them being made, I'm actually able to do a group buy anytime on these now. I have pricing on the tooling required for injection molding and about 2 weeks ago started pricing up kit prices. So I planned to sell them in complete CAR KITS so its 1 full kit vs singles on the upstart. This will basically make the first run easier in numbers, plus offer the maximum discount vs singles I can do!

In regard to prints. Mine were printed on professional MJF and SLS machines (so stupid expensive fine detail machines) and while SOME would possibly work ok they do NOT hold the strength to reuse over or maybe even twice, so it's a 1 time use clip because that specific nylon while flexible does not have the strength the injection molding material is like. I have worked with the injection molding team a bit to discuss this and how they will be molded and materials I have opted for which is better than stock btw for reducing brittleness and dry rotting aka weathering with age. It is a better material combo to help make them last a bit longer for everyone. downside is its a fraction more expensive to do plus the fact oem would of made 10,000+ vs my 500 to 1000 LOL so that sucks also LOL

But I'm also nearly fully settled and can REALLY look into these if needs be! a ROUGH pricing I have worked out would be $280 per full kit. That is discounted also for the first kit batch price, and after that, clips can be bought singly. I will look to make a post shortly to let people know and get as many pre-orders as possible if this is what people would like me to work on first.
