hmmmmm i was racing... and my car topped out at 100 mph... windows WERE down..... but still.... its stock, 140hp... maybe a governor kicked in? somebody tell me what my first two upgrades should be if im wanting the fastest/cheapest bolt on addons for a quick power gain!!!

Put your windows up. Also, find a longer dragstrip, because obviously the legal drag strip you were on wasnt long enough. Or maybe find one downhill.

only 100 mph never heard that before i got the same motor and got mine up to 130. i have a cheap ebay cold air intake and a headers back exhaust. hope this helps

Alright not to be too mean but you really need to slow it down on the road. Take it to a track where at least its a little safer. "NOT TO MENTION LEGAL"

Its people that go a 100 mph down the road and get a ticket in a NON-TURBO car that makes the insurance companies think:

"Gee if he had a turbo model he would kill someone, lets make it nearly impossible for 16-24 yr old drivers to afford insurance for 2 door cars or even turbo cars period."

all that comes to my mind is that your a walking dialog for the fast and furious movie.. i have seen you do nothing but quote that movie in a numerous amount of your posts... thats awesome man... answer the questions with good knowledge of what you know..

That reminds me of a story I heard about a guy that couldn't get any speed out of his motor boat. When he finally got it back to the landing he found it was still attached to the trailer.

F&F is a joke at your expence.... It means Fast and Furious. As in the movie! Mabey you should take a look at the Tech guides, do a major tune up. Then come back if you still need help. I am sorry you are getting made fun of from everyone else. In your defence, this is the newby fourm, but you are at least expected to read a little and make shure your car is in top shape before asking, Why is my car so slow? You could have some crapy plugs & wires, pluged fuel filter or air cleaner. Plugged injectors. Oh hell, it can be a million things that a full tune up would cure. As far as getting smoke by a Grand Am..... Sucks to be you!

I was in a stock civic 5 speed with a couple people in it and going uphill it couldnt hit 100. So doesnt seem that weird to me. Do a tune up on your car, and if you want to go faster...sell it and get a turbo dsm or start modding yours. Cold air intake, header, cat-back is a good place to start.

somethings wrong. even my cousins stock GS hit 130 on the freeway with the windows/sunroof down.

id do a full tuneup, then get a 2.5" catback and Cold Air Intake. this should give you a little more pep.

well, i just noticed you said youre a auto. i doubt that would make a 30mph difference in top end, but autos do put down less power due to losing more of it inside the tranny. but it wouldnt account for not being able to hit over 100.

was your car doing the speed limiter feeling(accel, then decel) or was it flat out just out of balls? what RPM were you at? did you have the OD off(only 3 gears and topping out 3rd).

and lets not turn this into a shitfest cause he did 100 on a public road. 100% of the people here have done it so shut the hell up. im hoping he was doing this on the freeway with little to no traffic, but ill put my faith in his decision making skills not to be going chuck yeager in a school zone.

it felt like it decelerated at 100.. like it WOULDNT GO OVER.... you know? .... it was at like 3000 rpm i think.... .. and it was a night on the interstate so dont get your panties in a wad barbies...
