So the issue has been 1-2 times a month in the winter when i first begin to drive the car the speedometer wont work and after 2 min it will start working again. It hasnt happened since last winter but happened tonight and unlike the previous times it would work for a min then stop then work for a min then stop then went completely dead. At first i assumed it was the speed sensor and was about to order a new one but thought that it was odd that it only occurs when its cold and figured if it was the speed sensor it would happen at any temp. Just wanted to get your guys thoughts on if you think it is speed sensor or if i should check the wiring etc.

Also on a side note i only found information about the 4g63 speed sensor on the forums. They said to remove the battery and tray and it should be below it mounted on the trans. The pic on advanced for the 4g64 looked like the sensor that goes by the wheel itself and im not sure if they just have a default pic on advanced or if they use different types on sensor but if anyone knows id appreciate it! Thank you

Start by checking for a loose connector connection on the vehicle speed sensor. Check the wiring as well under sleeve. If wiring is ok, it is possible that the sensor maybe going bad..one bolt to take it out just to check.

Oh, the irony. Mine is doing exactly the opposite. It only works at first start up on cold days. I'm thinking mine is stripped gears, and when the fluid is cold (and thicker) it has enough resistance to work.
