Speed Sensor Question

I havea 98 mitsubishi eclipse with a 2.0 5 speed and the speed sensor gear fell in the tranny can I take to pan off and get it out or do I have to pull it apart

if its a 5 speed there is no pan. if you get lucky you might be able to fish it out with a coat hanger. if not, you;ll have to split the case.
