What are all the sensors I will need to run full speed density? Also where are the best priced places to buy the sensors from? I am guessing that a map, ait, and wideband are all I would need?

Anyone have a walk-thru or any serious info on doing this? I've been thinking about it for a few months now and I really want to get into it.

Right now I'm using DSMLink and I'm wondering if this: http://www.fullthrottlespeed.com/itemdesc.asp?CartId={F5C060EB-EVERESTD304-463C-9D4B-85B08B5EA162}&ic=050SD2G&eq=&Tp= will work perfectly with it. + a gm 3bar, and of course the temp sensor.

Unless DSMLink has speed density built in now and I don't know it, V2 doens't, your going to also need an AEM EMS. You can't simply convert without having a computer that will understand the signal your giving. The hearness is a plug and play way, but the signal coming from a 3bar GM map is meaningless to the stock computer and dsmlink.

This is the whole thing behing a maf translator. It uses a GM maf (still a maf) and that box "translates" the info into something the stock computer can use. It took them a long time to get that so ti worked, nevermind a GM map sensor.

So the only way besides using the ostrich setup is to go AEM then? I hope Tom and Dave at dsmlink incorporate this very soon heh. I'm tired of shit not matching up right due to my shitty tuning. I seriously need to get a map and wideband at the very least.

Anyone selling a used plx? :D

switching to speed-density isn't going to fix that. you're better off solving whatever problems you have with your current system before switching to one that's more complicated.

That translator pro is a really cool way to switch to speed density. With the use of a wideband, it will allow you to run in closed loop at WOT, but a wideband is not needed to do the conversion. A lot of the DSMs I see running through my close friend's shop end up not running really well on the AEM EMS' speed density, so they dont. The translator pro will do it in an easier way, and priced 400 bucks for the box and another 110 for all the sensors needed to convert to speed density, makes it right in the ball park of a DSMlink. Whats even cooler is that the guys at DSMchips are working with the MAFTpro guys to custom burn a chip that will allow you to control timing. Autotune via lap top and a wideband is in the future with this product as well. I plan on running this setup after I switch out my bunk AFPR and have been waiting for its release for months.

holy shit, you are running dsmlink with no secondary inputs(wideband, map)?

at least get a GM 3Bar map, so you can get your airflow tables all worked out. this will alleviate most your problems(it worked for me when i was getting massive knock at 15psi). you basically adjust the airflow sliders so boostest and map graphs line up. mine were so far off it was insane, once i got them dialed in, dayum. night and day.

then you can get a wideband and get the wideband and a/f est graphs lined up for even more power. something like that. i never got far enough for wideband, after replacing my front 02 sensor all my fuel and timing curves were perfect, i had no knock @20psi with 91 octane pisswater and i was happy.

Imagine for a second that your cruising around, and decide to have some fun, and blow an IC pipe off. Bamm maf system, you are completely screwed.

Yet if it was on speed density it wouldn't matter at all. Same with vacuum and boost leaks. You can have extreme dependability while you continue your onslaught of slaying problems 1 at a time.
Well you can also have these same features by running a GM mas in a blow through setup. I've experienced my lower intercooler pipe blowing off more than once. And everytime i can still drive though without any power at all. I can see how this would be an advantage but why add one more variable when he's already having a hell of a time getting the car to run properly as it is?
