I'm just figuring that either you don't like me, or Hahn is paying you off :p

Sometimes do-do happens and sometimes it repeats itself.

well, lets not have it reeat it's self again.. i'll make sure of that :D

James,

I was actually thnking about that and the other parts we talked about last night. I cna't wait to get started on them. although i'm moving i am still keeping my work going since a good portion of it's through the net anyway. I'mnot moving until july though so no worries right yet

YOU still got my number? call anytime

Dude are you staying in town? Why are you not at any of the AutoX events? We had a good one in Lincoln last weekend, thunderstorms and all. I am the only DSM rep. EVO's aren't DSM's so I'm all alone.
My car is finally done. I had to add another sway-bar up front. Now the things stays pretty flat in the corners. I also got some new rims, 16X8's off a mazda 3rd gen RX-7. Nabbed a couple of spacers from work for the back, clearence is measured in C-hairs. They have a 50mm offset, keeps them inside the wheel wells
Can you make me a lower IC pipe? If my ADHD allows me to remember I'll give you a call. Maybe a catch can I'm tired of cleaning up oil drops from the filter.
I found that picture you wanted finally. I can post it on the thread but I'll try to put in in my gallery for a while.

I"ll still be here a while. I'm working in the field this week on a large construction project, but i'm home in the evenings and will be around this weekend. I stopped autop-x'ing when Offut stopped letting us run there and aksarben got torn down ( i basically lost touch with the crowd to know where to go)

Anyway, dose up on the ritilin and gimme a call LOL

we can get that IC pipe made without any issues i'm sure

Glenn check my gallery that pic you wanted is there. I don't know how long it will stay.

awesome...me in the engine bay of the ford GT.. everyone says i was lieing about that, but now i have the proof..thanks bro..hell if i knew it was you asking about the welding i would have said it's free come on over... so it is now freee, and bring your ass over to my house fool!!!!!!!! LOL

good to see you on the boards, is your number the same still? I might race in KC this weekend....11's are in my prayers!!

Hahaha I read the tag wrong the first time I read it it said "LEMON" then I took a closer look and it really says "LEMANS" ROFL LOL

So when are you going to mass produce those motor mounts! I want a set asap! :D

btw I forgot to thank you for the info on drilling and tapping the cams. Mr. Peepers did a great job as always for me and they are working nicely in my spyder :) Though it doesn't quite have a consistent lumpy noise but it works. I'm thinking that maybe I have the same problem peepers did which is maybe I need to ground the TB?

Don't think i'll be mass producing those mounts, but shoot me a PM and I'll do a set for ya.

NO problem on the help with the cams, I try and offer as much help as i can to people those who ask because as a kid (and even an adult) asking questions and learngin from others is about 75% of why i know what i'm doing today.. As for "grounding the TB" what do you mean by that exactly? enlighten me!
\\

P.S. andy...looks like i'm going to be staying..already talking divorce LOL I just can't serve the rest of my life following around the military and deali8ng with her new cocky attitude. A friend and I are opening a shop and i have been working on an investor that seems pretty promising. BY next summer i plan to have a full retail floor space, 2 lifts and even more fab stuff and am going to make sure i keep with the tradition of never having a customer walk away un-satisfied, this should put me ahead of the pack, especially since i'm not going to be another local "import specialist" just going to be a fab and tuning shop... cars, bikes, trucks you nam,e it we'll make it better, bigger faster and tougher!!!!!!!!

^^ Well, there's a good chance i'm moving to Cannon AFB just about 140 miles from albequerque, so your wish might come true LOL, but after the talk i had with her last night i might end up staying here, it's up in the air right now honestly

If you open up a shop, I am hired!!!! :thumb: pm sent about the mounts btw....

Also I'm not exactly sure about the whole "grounding the TB" it was something mr. peepers mentioned to me that he forgot to do and didn't remember but once he did it, he's got perfect idle now and his cams lump consistently. I'll have to ask him about this one, I think he said something with 2g's that are different but I'll be swapping to a 1g TB sometime once I find a evo3 IM anyways.

I managed to get the front mount in today Glenn. Then it rained and I didn't want to do the rear while soaking wet. But I test drove it and it has an amazing feel already to it. I don't know what it is. I don't think it's vibrating more either. It just has...a different feel. One of power. I love it Glenn. Can't wait to put in the rear! By the way, the fitment of the bolt is like perfect. You could not have made it any tighter. It was a bit of a tight squeeze getting the mount in between the bracket but a little bit of leverage put it in its place.

I't would be nice having another cool DSM'r here. A good friend, dunno if you've heard of him, had a 8 seconds DSM in Cannon AFB. Retired Military, Westly Hess. He died around xmas time last year. Esp a fabricator. I can do alot of fabing but I have no tools for it. I have a cheap ass welder... thats it. Usually anything I weld I have to go through and grind the welds down to make it look halfway decent.

I'm very glad to hear how well you like them,it makes it feel that much more worth while to make them! I make parts not only for the money, but for the love of making parts i can't think of anything job related i'd rather do.

When i bored the bolt holes i used my mount bolt, and just measured everything from the factory rubber insert's center section and then the mounts other half on my car with a micrometer. I wanted the fit to be rock solid so i only gave .007 of material removed for clearancing based on what my car measured out at. I figured you would need a rubber mallet to get them in right (just liike a fresh set of pro-thanes) but having them extra tight from the start will give them less movement that would accelerate wear at those points hopefully making the mount last longer.

That rear mount can be moved slighly if need be, just bolt it down and hit it to either side with a large rubber mallet. IT also helps to wedge something between the 2 halves of the split outter part. I used a piece of aluminum i had laying around, clamped it into a set of vice grips and held it in place while beating on the aluminum insert with a dead blow hammer. ( i had the mount bolted to my jigging table when checking this part out)

Nope, don't get it. If you can't do it, just tell me. I'm kinda stuck now that its been pretty much all winter. My buddies are on the spring race projects now. Time is something they had before.

Did you lose/not receive the layout? Here it is;

Man, i sent that same drawing to the shear guy over a week ago and he keeps telling me he'
ll call when it's done. It's frustrating the piss out of me because i can't even get the damn metals i order and had to go get the sheeting for it from another palce that made me buy an entire 4 x 8 of 1/8 5052 al. I'm trying to get it done right, but honestly if you don't mind it being a little wavy from the crappy cuts my bandsaw does on sheet then i will make it that way at this point. but i really wanted the edges to be perfect so the box looked as professional as possible.

Let me know, i've got the material i can just go grab it and tell him too late if you want me to free hand the pieces.

If you're okay with that i can have it in the mail by next weekend

PM answered, and don't worry about cost, the returned rail will cover my expenses on material and since this had been forever and a month in the making i'll just build and ship it to you at no further cost and i'll cover up to priority shipping.

EDIT: I just called to go get mty sheet aluminum back and now the guy swears it will be sheared today, if not it's bandsaw cuts, but either way i'll have your box shipped. The only thing i'm having trouble gaining now is some tubing in the length and diameter you want. The only place in town is trying to make me buy 20 feet of tubing so i can get one piece 5 1/2 inches long, and I just can't afford to do it that way .. now i'm not complaining as you're the on who's been without, but you have to understand that since the place i use to have a shop setup in went out of business materials have been very hard to come buy ( it was my local metal supermarket that went out of business ) So I'm left with only whole-salers to buy from and just can't foot the bill for ordering bulk materials I'm still sitting on over 17 feet of 2.250''diameter thick walled tubing if that will work for you though, and i also have some 2.5 that's really thin but only have a few inches of that...

let me know what will work for you,

edit: # 2 - Well, the bastard at the shear who never orders my metals has called and said that i can pick up the pieces at 2pm, problem is the f*cker charged me 40 bucks for the shear work

EDIT: # 3. The metal is now in my possesion, and everything is sheared except thge "L" shape in the top and bottom sides of the box. I scored a piece of 3 inch tubing but it's under 4 inches long... will that be better than the 2.5 of the same length? That will be one of the last things added so just let me know when you can

This is getting pricey so i may have to at least have you handle shipping and I'll still cover the build on my own because of the delays you've had to deal with.

Well, hopefully this brings your sprits up a bit bullet.... So far so good .080 sheet 5052 AL

The only bandsaw cuts are for the "L" in the lids as mentioned earlier

Hey, let me know where you want the material thickened up for drilling and tapping your fittings...also, if you want any sort of tabs on it (drilled or not) that you can use to mount it let me know and draw where they would be on the box and i'll add em, But i won't drill any holes, that way you can bend and drill them to suit the holes you have

EDIT: Well I've got the bottom and all 6 sides welded up, only thing left is to get from you where to put the thick materiaal for drilling and tapping your fittings in, then i can seam it up, put some tabs on it (if you want) and ship it out maybe even as soon as tomorrow or monday!

EDIT # 2: Looking back at this post, it's funny that in the welds you can see every time i changed filler rods. I was using 1/16th 4043 rod, looks like i get about 4 inches per rod...just had to point that out for some reason

Made some more progress on the box tonight when i got home (around 130 or so), but am now waiting for you to see these pics so you can choose your "mouth" for the filler neck............ If anyone's paying attention to the time i'm posting this you'll know i'm set on getting it done LOL

Here's some pics, the 3 inch stuff reads out at 2.9877 or something like that and the 2 1/4 stuff i mentioned having is also shown mic'ed out at 2.33x

The 3 inch is shorter and narrows down at the last 3/4 of an inch, but thee are what i have to work with without buying 20 foot of material, i even looked for some 3 inch at my other storage place and at the shear shop today and the short 3'' with my hand next to it is all i could find that large.

anyway, here's pics .... NOT PICURED is the 4 or so inches of 2.5 OD intercooler tubing i have a piece of....that's in between both of these in both wall thickness and diameter.
