I wrote a long ass post explaining every pic and my ie explorer crashed.. so here's the pics..ask if you have wquestions

every pis is out of order right now, but i am tired... there's pics of my lapping table (whee the WG flanges are), mt tig, some catch cans, valve cover, intake tube next to a rotozip out of 4'' mandrel bent...al kinds of goodies, but all in their rough states

If you wanted to put a tab on there, that'd be great. I appreciate the price break:hellyeah:. I gave them a call about the flex, and they said it was late shipping out, and it won't be here until Wednesday(got a tracking #). I know your busy, so I can come pick that stuff up, and just have an exhaust shop here do the downpipe or whatever, no big deal. Let me know! Thanks again!!

I'll do your down pipe bro...this is my job

Thanks! The only thing i was dissapointed in was the back of the new radiator neck getting a little too much of a "blob" of weld on the corners ( i'm picky about my beads)

The reason one fitting in the VC is red is because there were contaminants on the udnerside of the VC that kept floating up (damn cast material) and i had to weld, grind, weld, grind etc and the heat faded the anodizing on the fitting... but the whole thing is getting PC'ed from what I understand and i warned the customer of this possibility and h was fine with it. The blue ones turn gold and I think they look cool after changing colors :D

Your pickyness about the beads shows. Looks great, how long have you been welding?

THanks! I've been MIG welding for a little over 12 years ( at least owned my own MIG that long) and I've been TIG'ing for about 5-6, most of the TIG was on other people's machines, but when i got my dynasty 200dx i welded non stop until i went through so much filler rod and argon that the weld store just started getting argon and tungstens ready for me every time i walked in the door.

I've brazed, welded and cut using oxy/acetyline for several years on and off and unfortunately i haven't done that much stick welding.. I CAN do it, but no where near as good as most people i know that grew up on farms.. I mean i know guys that can't lay a MIG weld bead to save their lives but can write in cursive with a 6013 stick LOL

I got my start in metal shop in school..although they didn't have us weld much i fell in love with the lathe and from there welding, milling, grinding and general fab just was part of the game i was playing. I was horible in school (mainly because all i wanted was women LOL ) but the one thing i did accell at was science and metal shop. I went on to compete in the VICA nationals for lathe work, but was disqualified after getting kicked out of school for smoking weed behind the lunch room one day and getting almost caught ( I ran LOL )

Metal has been in my life since i can remember, my grandfather and uncles were always welding and building race cars, and logging equipment and since i was too young to help they would give me car parts and have me take them, apart and put em back together, then jusge me on how well i got them re-assembled.... Everything in my life has in some way reminded me of or encouraged me to weld and fabricate more and more..sorry to blab, but i take my love of metal to heart :D

Thanks again for the compliment!

James,

I was actually thnking about that and the other parts we talked about last night. I cna't wait to get started on them. although i'm moving i am still keeping my work going since a good portion of it's through the net anyway. I'mnot moving until july though so no worries right yet

YOU still got my number? call anytime

Im digging that water neck. Looks nice. I may have you do that to mine. I am not running coolant lines to the firewall. No need for it.

What ever you need, that pic was in rough state where the contamination had finally been welded and ground out and i was starting to smooth the holes into the body making them less visible...but the owner took it back at roughly that stage and said he'd finish it (gsxtasy)

I did mine too but i put AN fittings on some of them to run SS braided hose to the turbo for coolant. Cast AL (and iron or anything cast for that mater) can be a major PITA, but i'm use to it becuase i spend most of my time practicing the hardest stuff to do just tokeep that edge on the local market.. I'm trying to get a contract done with a local tranny shop to do all their cast aluminum tranny case repairs that come through their shop since they sub it all out to other places anyway. I'm just promising a better time line on turn over, thing is ive gotta go through corporate to get setup for use of purchase orders ands tuff like that...hopefully that's cool this week, every extra penny counts when it comes to paying bills, I don't care if i'm welding on submarines or lawn-mowers LOL LOL

Yeah, I'll be sure to get pictures up when everything is finished being powdercoated and such.

BTW Glenn, I got the DP fit up, and it fits pretty close, i only had to cut about 1-1/4'' off the bend part, and slid it in and it bolted up! Had to flex it a little, but it's looks great!

Here are a couple pics of my modified RRE downpipe that Glenn and I came up with. It's full 3'' with my JMF 3'' o2 housing bolted on. :hellyeah:

Sorry for the terrible phone picture quality.:(

Not too bad for a couple of guys that didn't even have teh car there to do any test fitting huh? I'm glad it worked out so well...now come give me a ride in that car!

Hell yeah we're gonna seam it up.:p Actually there is no choice, a clamp won't fit! The flex section is touching the t-case and oil pan. OMG It fits just right though.:D

Alright, just let me know when you wanna do it or if i need to come out there if the car's not drivable right now and i'll shoot out we'll weld it up and get some lunch.

Thanks for the kind words everyone... I will keep this thread updated with my latest projects. Althogh some are just grill burners and wrought iron fence repairs (those i'll leave out) But i'll keep anything car or motorcycle related posted up. Thanks again

Glenn, solid front and rear motor mounts? Possible? You seem to know about the lathe and I see you have some round stock available. I'd be interested in a press in set.

When ever you're ready just mail em to me, you've got my info and my thoughts on it, so hopefully something comes in the mail to give me a reason to fire up the lathe :D

Been working on these mounts here over the last few days. They are a press fit and not only did i break my harbor freight press, but also broke myharbor freight vice trying to use it as a press on this job ( over all i think i took a loss LOL ) But, thanks to friends with shops and more presses to abuse i was able to get them completed in time to ship this weekend. :)

Anyway, I'm quite proud of them, here's some finished pics (don't have any from the machining process :( ) Even the center bolts are a mahcined fit, you should see how tight these fit, i only hope it's not so tight to make installation difficult.

YOu can see where i had to peen the rear mount to get a perfectly tight press fit. I actually used a smaller piece of aluminum so that the peening would shrink the hole (this was done after i esteblished a perfect fit with no clearnace on teh actual insert and what this did was allow the outter mount to hold on better to the insert) <--hope that makes sense anyway, it does to me (mostly that is LOL ) :p

These are for crimsondragon from this forum. Hope ya like em bud!
