Well guys, I recently purchased what I thought was a T3-TO4E 50 trim. I ended up getting a 60 trim. The shop that did it for me used a BEP turbine housing so when they brought me the turbo I was so busy checking out the back housing and to make sure it was in good condition since it was used that I completely missed the Comp housing/wheel. 50 trims are .50 a/r while what I have is .60a/r. It is a bit laggy hitting full boost at around 4200-4300rpm and just doesn't seem to make much power at about 15 psi which is what I'm running now.

Now, the turbo only has about 200 miles, I can go back to the shop and since I've known them for a bit I am pretty sure they won't have an issue swapping out for a 50 trim. However, I wanted a 50 trim because it's what I have had before and I know it works, but if the 60 trim was a better choice I'm willing to leave it on and try it. The only thing is that to my understanding the 60 trim makes less power on pump gas correct? Any advise guys?

I will be running mostly pump gas, occasional race gas. mods in my profile are updated.

Not true, that is the a/r of the compressor housings
To know for sure which compressor wheel you have, you'd have to take the cover and measure the inducer and exducer of wheel with a micrometer

If you plan on just running 15psi, then you'd be better off putting a 14b or 16g on the car because the turbo will be more in its efficiency range and spool quicker.

I wouldn't bother with either the 50 or 60trim unless you plan on running 20psi+

So whether it's a 50 trim/60 trim I can change the housing to one with a 50 a/r and it'll fit right? As long as it's T3/TO4E correct?

As far as boost, I just installed it, I haven't really tuned it well yet. I want to get everything dialed in and then hit the dyno and tune there. I don't want to make a shit load of power as I'm on the stock motor. I did 307whp with my 16g, I just got this turbo with a pretty good deal so i jumped on it.

No, the compressor housings are machined to the specific wheel they are being utilized by.
The inducer of a 60trim is slightly larger than a 50trim, so there would be some gap there.
You would have to get a new compressor housing altogether, unless of course you did something ghetto with jbweld or something, LOL

Not looking forward to JB Weld on my turbo LOL.

Ahhh, this sucks. Complicated since I am not taking it apart to measure it. I might just stick with it and that's it. I upped the boost earlier to 16 psi and it awakened a lot. So far it's just showing characteristics of a 60 trim. Spools at about the RPM the 60 trim is advertised it spools at, hates lower boost levels, etc. I don't know what to say honestly.
