So I recently rebuilt my engine and now it's got about 400 miles on it I already changed the oil once and yes I'm using conventional oil and I started with the car at 7psi for the first 100 miles then retorqued my head studs and now I turned it up to around 12psi so when can I go all out like run my boost around 20psi?

Just got back from my 1000 mile roadtrip after about 1500 on the new motor, ran like a champ, turned up my boost halfway and its running great...as long as you've already given it an oil change and made sure there's no chunks of metal in your oil you should be good after 1000...

Immediately.

This is an interesting article to read about breaking in an engine:
Break In Secrets--How To Break In New Motorcycle and Car Engines For More Power

+1.. Correct me if im wrong, but im pretty sure once your start your car for first time you should drive it how you plan on driving it 5k miles later... if you know what i mean..

If your gonna race the car.. GET ON IT!
if your gonna daily drive it.. just drive her lightly.

I guess its because everything sets the first time you drive her?
(once again.. Correct me if im wrong on this!)

As long as the tune is good, drive it like you normally would.

well for the first 50 i did both i gradually beat on it let it cool and did it again and now i have been running it pretty hard and its doing great ill keep you all posted im gonna do a compression test very soon

My current engine saw 30 psi at about 5 miles, 5k, later perfect compression. John force always puts 1000 miles of easy driving on his nitro engine before unleashing the full 8,000 horsepower you know.

I'm pushing 11psi and I only have 13mi on the car. Took it for one drive just before I had to put her away for a year.

I though nitro cars were only good for one or two runs before they had to be rebuilt...

That's my point. They are torn down after every run, and rebuilt very often. The break in consists of idling into the staging lane, and then a burnout. Driving for hundreds or thousands of miles without boosting is a wives tale.

most dsms iv seen or rebuilt run stock boost for first hundred miles and your supposed to spool it up after rebuild so it will all seat propely if your at 400 id say ## fine to turn it up rest of way

I drove on mine for 500 miles before i started to get on the boost, my rings were not seating and I was burning oil at idle mainly. Decided to try what others had suggested and do a couple pulls, car has been runnin great since. I say turn it up.

From what I have heard drive it on stock boost for about 1000 to 1500 miles, then you can turn it up, I have also heard about doing a few pulls to break it in when you do...If it was me I would wait till 1000+ n then i'd turn it up..

Turn that boost up.:hellyeah: I had my boost up to like 16 lbs with 0 miles. Took it out and boosted in 2nd gear wot, let the rpms get to about 6k and let off and let it gas back down. Do this a couple times and there ya go set rings. Then just drive like you normally would. Don't baby it. 3k miles later and all is good.
