So what are you working on that’s NOT your DSM?

Me and my 650 bobcat have been putting in work clearing more trees and doing grade work around my future house. Don’t have any pictures of the driveway but had to cut that in too and spread 100 tons of stone. It’s about 500 ft long because nobody like neighbors.

You know the garage is too small :)

On a whim you start with a Les Paul? Nothing like having the right tool.
Btw; i thought the Les Paul has the shorter string length,( better for smaller fingers) vs. a Strat, or is it the neck width that’s the issue?
Electric guitars of that era (50’s!!) are timeless design; these two especially. I had a 77 BC Rich Mockingbird that was sweet, but I strum even worse than I wrench. :hellyeah:
It's the thickness of my fingers and hands. I'm learning that I have to fret some chords using one finger for two strings, especially at the higher frets, or else I'm muting other strings, even though I'm almost on my nails. I bought a 60's Standard thinking it would have been better with the smaller profile neck, but it seems to have bitten me. Her Strats are actually easier for me to play, but they typically are in general.

The good thing is, if I learn to play on this thing, I should be able to play on most other guitars as well.

What I can *definitively* say is---3 weeks doesn't make one Eddie Van Halen, nor Dimebag Daryl.... :D

I unburied the 3000GT from all the snow so I could start it and let it run. It hasn't been started in over a month and even with the sub-zero temps and 20w50 oil that thing fired up like it was just started 5 minutes before. It amazes me how quick and easy it starts.

Getting brain cramps from trying to figure out why my Instrument Cluster in the red TT keeps turning off randomly. I'm pretty sure it in the interface board in the last picture. The cluster reports that it's seeing an over voltage condition on the main B+ but none of the other controllers see that happening.

This happened to me over the holidays on my 09 Wolfsburg Jetta. Finally got a warranty replacement from the vendor. They sent me the whole kit so I'm repeating it all and starting new again.

That's interesting. I bet it was riding extra smooth after that popped loose LOL. I had the same exact thing happen on a 2g a few years ago, not long after installing Ground Control coilovers.

Yeah like I was riding on a brick 🤣. The Bilstein kit ride very well, idk what the deal is with snapping the rod. Not a very common issue but does happen. Something to do with the mount style as it's just a rubber mount the flexes. The seem to break will turning over bumps from what I could find. Mine broke pulling out of a parking lot, hard right across two different incline planes. I would hear a pop every so after while at low speed sharp turns, I thought it was my ball joint.

I was running 034 motorsports mounts that are stiffer rubber to give better control with coilovers but I'm swapping them out for some OEM mounts to hopefully stop this from happening again cause I'll be sol then.

A pillow all mount would stop this from happening as well

Dude! Bravo on that extremely Sano rust repair, man! The attention to detail is full factory, actually, better than that. 🤘🤘🤘

Mostly finished the basement. The only things I didn't do were foundation sprayfoam and drywall finishing, neither of which I had any inclination to touch. I've done full basement finishing before, it's not worth my time since I'm too damn picky. The rest (framing, electrical, insulated subfloor, LVP, drywall, paint, millwork, doors) took me nearly a year but the permits were closed and I impressed the inspector so I'm happy with that.

I'm still waiting on loveseat recliner with center console and the remaining trim parts for the dry bar cabinets, but the A/V portion is long done. More wall treatments will happen once the furniture is in. Radon mitigation in a couple months as the numbers are higher than I'm comfortable with.

Getting around plumbing was a challenge. When the house was built I had to get them to move the stack another 6" or so away from the stairs. Had it not been, it wouldn't have even allowed for a code compliant hallway. Baffoonery, I say.

Some nice 5mm light gray tempered glass protects (cat-proofs) the AV gear. Just enough tint to look nice, but not too much.

2x2 drop ceiling with reveal and a 1x4 flush rim, of my own design. Kinda winged it on this one, wondered how it would look. Turned out fantastic. These are acoustic panels as well so vertical reflection is cut down (NC=0.7 or 0.75, can't recall -- AND it's a Roxul product)

First colour coat (second has no roller marks, I was worried there for a bit). 3/4" MDF, about 7.5-7.8cuft for the IXLs, tuned to ~21Hz. The smaller cabinets I built years ago for the PA460s.

Had to get the IXLs made with the carbon fiber cones. I got spoiled with my UXL18 which sits in that box in the corner of the picture. Not sure what to do with it yet.

I couldn't put the surrounds directly behind, and they're a little higher than ear, but the mounts allow me to angle them downward and they're almost directly inline with ear so that you're also sitting smack in the middle of the front and rear set of heights. It's good enough for us!
Black acoustic panels will be moved to the front wall and some artwork that doubles as acoustic panels, made with acoustically transparent fabric, will be put in their place. Why shine light on nothing, right?

Setup is comprised of

L/R: Polk RTi A9
Center: Polk CSi A6
Surrounds: Ascend Acoustics HTM-200SE
Heights: 4x Polk CI160ER
Subwoofers: 2x Dayton Audio PA460-8, 2x Mach5 IXL-18F (I'm never building any more cabinets ever again)
DSP: MiniDSP 2x4HD w/ UMIK-1

Amplifiers: 2x Crown XLS1502 (bridged 4ohm), 1x Crown XLS2502 (2ch 8ohm)
Receiver: Yamaha RXA2070
TV: Sony XR85X93L 85" MiniLED

Devices: UBPx700, PS4Pro, Switch, nVidia Shield TV Pro
Power: 1x 15A for devices, 2x 20A for amplifiers

It's been "fun" to do but I'm seriously looking forward to just getting it done and off my mind.

Not touched my Galant in months. Working on my Mustang (needs valvestem seals), had a tune revision completed for my truck and pulley'd down one size and had it on the dyno a couple weeks ago. Check it out here.

That is so sick. I would never go to work or get anything else done with that in the man cave hahaha. You should be proud. It's so badass.

The only thing keeping me from moving down there right now is the radon and lack of furniture. Wife won't let me move the bed down there :(
Bar fridge delivered today. Might put in an intercom LOL.

OK, I assume you don't have a cell phone either. Not only is it listening but it's reporting where you are all the time.

LOL, I had to edit this a bunch of times cause it just seemed like I was bragging. Life's been interesting.

Since you mentioned it. My day job for the past 50+ years was creating and selling networked and cloud based computing systems. I could write a book if I could remember all the shit and people. Buy me a drink some time and we can talk about it.

I'll be sure to keep my cell in my back pocket so all they hear is my poor decisions in cuisine.
Enough hacked cell firmware and dummy towers exist to have sniffed the radios for everything that's sent without user knowledge. I'd sooner still have a cell than an Amazon/Google device manned by people with questionable ethics.

Funny thing, so I spent not an inconsiderable time studying for an AWS associate architect exam, get the certification.. and I end up managing a GCP product. And, to add insult to injury, obtaining the certification did shit all for my yearly review. Yep. Corporate life.

Tuesday everything running well. Wednesday no crank. Put the charger on it and 20 min later all good. Start it up late afternoon and the following morning no problem. My wife called me at 1230 the next day saying the car is dead. WTH! Newer battery. AAA finally shows up and jump pack to the rescue and it starts. I tested the battery and it shows good. AAA tests battery/alternator and it's good. Oreilly's tests battery and it's good. I tested the alternator and it's good. Buddy stops over and points out these are loose and in need of cleaning :nono:. Disassembled, cleaned, di-electric greased the contact points, re-assembled...and it fired up immediately and has done so for the past day. 2003 Sonic yellow modified/tuned 03 WRX. The things we miss sometimes...

Thanx man.. that was the plan. :)
That's the final result after the stone chip protection, a layer of filler, a lil color and a thick clearcorat.. i don't give a damn about the color's shade.. that section will be covered by dust if the owner driving the car.. but the shape looks like the factory original almost. :) The bracket of the swaybar fits there perfectly :)
