Like I see all of my friends cars, when ever they put gas in. They turn their key. And it tells them how much has they have. Well when I'm on E and I go to fill up. Mine takes a good 10-15 minutes to go all they way up to F.

What's the reason?

My DSM's have always done that same thing. I usually only put Shell gas in mine and the closest Shell station is 1.2 miles away (yes, that's an exact number... because I can.) It usually takes that whole time, while sitting at one light for about 3-4 minutes to go all the way back to full.

Yea, like I'll notice when ever I turn my car off and look at my gauge I'll have a half tank. Go to turn it back on later and I'll have in between a 1/4 and a half. Like is our sending units retarded or something?

No. It takes an average reading over time. Some cars are faster then others. Vw's use the speed sensor to help. When you're driving it does the averaging thing, when stopped it reads the level. My speed sensor is broken so it shows 100% real time fuel level. When it gets low on fuel the light blinks and the beeping gets annoying as the fuel sloshes around

I think the floats can get stuck on the rail in the tank or aren't as buoyant as they used to be from being soaked in fuel. My GVR4 updates horribly slow and only reads 3/4 full when it is all the way full. My Talon takes forever, but makes it after a few minutes. That's just my guess... I think about it every time I get gas... I suppose it makes sense that it would average it out so the needle doesn't bounce around. I'll look in my FSM and see if it mentioned anything.

Haha my GSX's gas gauge is bipolar too.

I'll be driving on the freeway and start at a 3/4 to full tank. Half way to my destination it will read 1/2 tank or even lower. Then right before I arrive to where I am going it's back at 3/4.

And yes, it is slow to fill up after getting gas as well.

Replace the bobber and make sure the lever isn't bent or the little thing it moves up and down on isn't messed up. Haha mine didn't work at all and discovered who ever owned it before me installed a 190lph and during reinstall of the assembly just jammed the thing down there and broke the sensor and arm.

That's how my vr4 is as well. After reading galantvr4.org , seems that when the car is "full" it's not, just wait a few minutes and pump again because the air is still trapped in the tank. I have tried this and now I get a full ready and an extra 1.5 gallons after I let it sit.

My car does the same thing. It is designed that way so that when you are driving over bumps your fuel gauge doesn't bounce around with the fuel in the tank sloshing around.

My 96 talon tsi is the same way.. ill fill up the tank and it will take a good 10 - 15 minutes to get to the full mark when i owned my 94 talon dl 1.8l it was the same way also.. i suspect its a dsm thing LOL

It is in the gauge cluster. Remove the cover and manually move the fuel level needle and you will see why. The needle is very stiff and takes more effort to move than the other gauges.

So I clicked on this and it brought me to an overhead view of an elementary school. It's midnight and you're at an elementary school? Creepy.

I think I agree with Jusmx.

About your gas question: it's not a linear gauge. If it really bothers you, you could drain the tank and clean the float mechanism. Pretty simple tech.

Weird Paul... the one in my truck can't swing over fast enough. The one in the GS takes a teeny bit to read everything. I'll get gas, and before I get to my house (about 4 or 5 minutes) it'll be all the way up. Same with the GST.

It is slow on my car. When I fill up my girl always says are you sure you filled up? I sit there laughing and tell her no and she starts freaking out seeing the E light on for a few seconds after I am done filling up. ROFL But it sucks when you are on an incline and the gauge says your empty when you have more than 1/2 a tank left

He's probably using Tapatalk or a similar app and has that in the signature field

Btw my needle takes about a full minute to reach full
