so i have this bet going on with my cousin...

i am about to begin a (for the most part) ground up 2g awd build, with a 6 bolt motor...

im looking to get the best performance yet, still be able to daily drive it...

heres the story... my cousin owns a 2010 2SS camaro, that is supercharged, and sits at about 520whp, he stopped over the other day and just kept busting me on my car, and what im planning on doing...

hes never taken it to the strip, and ive only been to the strip once or twice, so the bet stands that i cant make my talon faster than his car, and still daily driveable, so im looking to get your guys opinions about this, and also throw some ideas of how you would go about this build... ive built a few cars before, but this is my first DSM full build.

its basically stock, it had a motor put in it qabout 25k ago, and it runs great, doesnt tick, knock, or leak anything... ( with the exception of the few drips now and than from the oil return line)

why does that guy talk about rustangs like if they are "gods " among cars. . aren't mustangs one of the cheapest v8 cars out there?? down here evertime you go out you will at least see 5. when i drive to school i see around 10. the best thing about owning a dsm is that you may have to put detail into everything to get that SPEEEEEEED you want. but its just that feeling of accomplishment. . here is a picture of a rustang i saw with a "table" as a wing. .. u can play beer pong on that thing. sorry i just hate mustangs with a passion. their like roaches. to many to count. and just so ugly.

Yes, I have a Mustang and yes it is faster than the DSM I currently have. I am glad that you took the picture of some Honda wanna be tard who owns a Mustang. And, if I see correctly it looks like it has some ### GTR emblem on the trunk. Guess what, there are cars faster than mine, just as there are cars faster than you. I do not think you should be saying anything about me owning a Mustang when there are plenty of people who think that DSM owners are RICERS. Personally, I love the sensation of coming on boost, just like I love the feel of V8 torque and RWD. Personally, I would never make any car look like that Mustang you took a picture of. When you see the owner of that Mustang, ask him what he is compensating for. Sleeper is the way to go on any car. Show cars are good to look at but, power is way more enjoyable.

As far as your car build, go forged. You may as well build it to take the abuse once. You will be saving money in the long run. There are plenty of people running forged cranks, rods, etc with no problems on the street. Aluminum, that is a hit or miss. Some people have mastered Aluminum parts. Others, well they scatter their money on the roads. Just do your research into each and every compnay and part you buy from.

I got the same EXACT thing going with MY cousin, except he has a built K series hatch. ....it's annoying isn't it when he talks crap about dsm's right?

I feel your pain, My build is gonna be especially for my cousin just to make him feel special when he sees Dsm taillights.

A built K-series hatch all motor will run high 10's with slicks and a good driver. Be careful.

I wanted to say the same thing. The 2000 SVT Cobra R is a badass car built strictly with performance in mind so that wing is far from being a "ricer" wing, although I have no idea if the owner has really done anything under the hood to go along with it. Sorry to add to the off topic conversation.

I know the wing is from a 2000 Cobra R, I know alot about the Mustangs. I think the Cobra R was a pure drivers car. That said, I do not like the wing, I dont like the rear bumper that guy put on it. Just because I like a car does not mean that I believe it is perfect. I am the type that would by an EVO and remove the rear wing. I am not much for body kits, I like the clean sleeper thing. As far as Mustangs being cheap and slow, what are you comparing it to? I could always find something better. That is why we have project cars. My Mustang is not stock, my DSM is for now. i do not plan on it being stock for long. We are all in this hobby for a reason. We wanted to take car A that is slower than car B, through ungodly amounts of money at it so that next time, we stomp car B and then search for car C. Have you ever heard a car guy say that the car is done? This is why there are aftermarket companies for cars that stock do 200+.

The bottom end sounds pretty good so far, as does the plan for the head. whats the plan on the turbo/ engine management.
Im a big dsmlink lover, obviously. but there are other options to be had.
running anit lag on the start is a great way to get a big turbo to kick early and really kill the v8s out of the hole. also a good way to ruin a transmission. speaking of which are you planning on running a stock trans for this? at 450hp it would be easy to screw up a launch and eat the transmission, you will never hear the end of it if that happens.

getting it up to 500whp would be very costly, but hey if you got the finance it should be no problem! if not, just take loan from the bank and pay it back with the 1000 when you win! !
Also, are you betting it on the best time throughout the whole day? or just the first run?
